Online NFL Betting Prepares for Fierce Battle in the South

At the moment, the NFC South is very much up for grabs. The Atlanta Falcons, the team football betting sites had pegged as the favorite in the division before the 2017 season began, have not quite lived up to their preseason expectations. In their absence, the New Orleans Saints have emerged as the frontrunners tow in the South this year. It’s unexpected to say the least, but the division is far from belonging to New Orleans. In fact, this weekend, the Carolina Panthers could come one step closer to usurping the Saints in the South. But first, Carolina will have to find a way to pull one over their division rivals. Let’s take a look at what the online NFL betting lines are predicting for this weekend’s NFC South rivalry match between the Falcons and Carolina.

Atlanta Falcons vs. Carolina Panthers – Sunday, November 4th

When: 1:00 pm ET

Where: Bank of America Stadium, Charlotte, North Carolina

TV: Fox

Stream: Fox Sports Go, NFL Game Pass

Online NFL Betting Lines:

Atlanta Falcons +2 ½ (-108) 44 (-105)

Carolina Panthers -2 ½ (-112)          44 (-115)

Atlanta Falcons

The Falcons fly into this Week 9 matchup flashing a 4-3 record which lets us all know that the franchise has already enjoyed their Bye Week this season. Atlanta’s record currently ranks them as the 3rd best franchise in the NFC South, a couple games ahead of the last place Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2-5) and a few games behind the 5-2 Saints. The Falcons haven’t faced the Saint this season, so they could very well pull out the division from under New Orleans. In fact, Sunday’s game versus the Panthers marks the first time this NFL sportsbook season that the Falcons have faced a divisional opponent this season. It’s a surprising fact, but one that leaves the door open for an Atlanta resurgence in the second half of the season.

Carolina Panthers

The Panthers crawl into Sunday’s matchup flashing a 5-3 record that ranks them second in the division. Unlike Atlanta, Carolina has already faced New Orleans once this year and they came up on the losing end of the contest 13-34. The Panthers will get another crack at the divisional leaders later on in the season but right now they need to focus on the Falcons.

This past Sunday, Carolina managed to snap a 2-game losing streak by picking up a 17-3 win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. It was a solid online NFL betting win, but now the Panthers have to get it done against an offense that outclasses the Bucs in every way possible. The Falcons have a 3-headed monster for an offense compromised of Matt Ryan at quarterback, Devonta Freeman at running back, and Julio Jones at wideout. Granted, Atlanta’s offense hasn’t been as explosive as we were expecting, but there’s still plenty of football to be played this year and this is not a unit you want to be underestimating. Even if they did manage to go a whole half without scoring in last year’s Super Bowl.
