Online NFL Betting Battle of the Skies

The warm up to the 2017 online NFL betting season continues this week as sports betting sites are rolling out some more auspicious lines on the league’s preseason action. This weekend, betting fans will be treated to an intriguing matchup between the reigning NFC Champions and the Arizona Cardinals. Let’s take a look at what NFL sportsbooks are predicting for this matchup.
Arizona Cardinals vs. Atlanta Falcons – Saturday, August 26th
When: 7:00 pm ET
Where: Mercedes-Benz Stadium
TV: Local Broadcasts
Stream: NFL.com, NFL Game Pass
Online NFL Betting Odds:
Arizona Cardinals +3 ½ (-115) 44 (-105)
Atlanta Falcons -3 ½ (-105) 44 (-115)
The Cardinals found plenty of success in 2015, posting a 13-3 record, winning the NFC West, and coming within a game of competing for a Super Bowl. Unfortunately for the franchise, the Cards suffered a complete turnaround in 2016, sinking so far as to posting a sub-.500 7-8-1 record. Arizona ended up finishing 2nd in the NFC West despite the lackluster results, so there is still hope for the Cardinals this upcoming season.
Sports betting sites are currently picking the Seahawks over the Cards in the West, but Seattle also has their fair share of problems. As far as the Rams and Niners, Arizona should have little difficulty cruising over them.
Bruce Arians returns in his fourth season as the Cardinals’ head coach. In his tenure with the organization, Arizona have posted 3 winning seasons and two playoff appearances. Arian will be looking to return the Cardinals to playoff form and the first thing he’ll need to address is the Cardinals passing game.
Carson Palmer is the man under center and in 2016 the former Bengal threw 26 touchdowns, 14 interceptions and posted an 87.2 passer rating. In 2015, when the Cards won 13 games, Palmer put up a 104.6 passer rating. With this in mind, it’s no understatement to say that Arizona’s season hinges on how well Palmer can perform.
What can be said about the Falcons’ 2016 season that hasn’t already been stated? Atlanta managed to go from 8-8 to 11-5, won the NFC south, won the NFC, had Matt Ryan win an MVP award, but failed to get it done when it mattered most. Instead of hoisting the Vince Lombardi trophy after one of the most dominant halves in Super Bowl history, the Falcons were sent home with their tail between their legs, allowing the biggest comeback in NFL title history.
It stands to reason that Atlanta will be coming into the 2017 season with the biggest chip on their shoulder of anybody in the league. This could be dangerous for the NFC South, considering just how extremely talented the Falcons are.
Last season, Atlanta managed to score a Pro Bowler in each of the skill positions. Matt Ryan obviously got the nod to the Pro Bowl since he won MVP. Devonta Freeman also received a ticket to Hawaii. And don’t forget about Julio Jones, one of the biggest, most athletic receivers in the league. Needless to say, the Falcons could pose a lot of online NFL betting problems for the NFC this year.
