Without a doubt, the most popular online roulette game is the European Roulette variant. There’s no question that this is the game type most frequently flocked to as it is generally considered the simplest and easiest to understand. It offers a straightforward version of the game that players from all walks of life can easily digest. On top of that, it offers the best chance of success with the house advantage sitting at a lowly 2.63%.

The European Roulette wheel has a total of 37 divisions, consisting from 0-36. Digits from 1-36 are colored in red and black alternatively while the lone zero is marked green. The object of the game is to accurately predict which division the roulette ball is going to settle into. But first, all players make their bets on a specific number, after which the dealer will turn the roulette wheel in one direction and spin the roulette ball in the other. Once the ball finds it resting spot, winning bets will be paid and losing bets will be collected. So now that you’re up to speed on the premise of this online casino game, let’s mulch over the basic rules of European Roulette.

European Roulette Rules

Playing European Roulette at an online casino makes the betting process all the easier. All the player does is place their chips on the desired bet and press the spin button. Once the round is over, the player will have the option to place another bet (re-bet) or to abandon the game all together (clear bets).

The number of players around the table will range from 1-8. The game is initiated once the croupier calls out ‘Place your bets” (we’ll cover the types of bets you can make down below). After the bets are placed, the croupier will place the ball for a spin onto the wheel. Once the ball begins slowing in speed, the croupier will call out “no more bets”. Obviously bets placed after this point will not be accepted. Once the ball finds it resting spot, the croupier will proclaim the winning number. Winning bets are then paid while all others are collected.

Types of Bets

The roulette table is made up of two sections which correspond to the two types of bets you can make, individual numbers and group bets. These are generally fit into two categories, inside and outside bets. Inside bets are either on a single number, adjacent numbers or even a small group of numbers. Outside bets will consist of larger groups of numbers. All these variations will offer different odds and subsequently different payouts. Oftentimes these payouts will not be listed on the table. Therefore it is paramount for the player to have some foreknowledge of the payouts before entering the game. We’ll dive further into the differences between inside and outside bets down below.
