UFC ON ESPN 47: Bleda vs Fernandes 06/17/2023 – Tereza Bleda and Gabriella Fernandes slug it out in a three-round clash in the women’s flyweight division on Saturday, June 17, the UFC Apex in Las  Vegas, Nevada. Before coming to the UFC, Bleda (6-1, 0-1 UFC) strung up six straight wins, including a unanimous decision win over Nayara Arnault Maia Correia in the Dana White’s Contender Series in September 2022. Two months later, the Czechia MMA fighter was paired with Natalia Silva in her UFC debut. Although she produced a good fight in the first two rounds, Bleda fell prey to a spinning back kick that dropped her on the canvas. She was not able to recover after that strike as Silva pounced on her until the referee called the fight off. It was the first loss of Bleda’s career.

Stats wise, Bleda has landed 2.57 significant strikes per minute and her accuracy is at 50%. Her defense proficiency against strikes is 44% and has absorbed 2.04 strikes/minute. Gabriella Fernandes

Fernandes (8-2, 0-1 UFC) made her UFC debut on February 25 against Jasmine Jasudavicius in a fight held at the UFC Apex. Despite her attempts to dictate the tempo of the fight, Fernandes fell prey to Jasudavicius’ takedown attempts and was dominated in the three-round clash. She was shut out on the scorecards of the judges, who even gave a 10-8 round to reward Jasudavicius’ overpowering performance in one of the rounds. The setback snapped the Natal, Brazil native’s seven-fight winning streak and this set her up to a match against Bleda.

Stats wise, Fernandes has registered five stoppage wins (three knockouts and two submissions) in her career. The fighter known as “Gabi” failed to launch her offensive against Jasudavicius, only landing 1.73 strikes per minute. Her significant strike accuracy was also affected in the fight as she could only landed 46% of her significant strike attempts against her opponent. As the fight concentrated on the ground, the Brazilian absorbed just 1.6 strikes per minute and successfully defended 55% of the strikes attempted by her rival.

Grappling wise, Fernandes failed to register a takedown in the match against Jasudavicius. She was able to stop 50% of the takedown attempts plotted by her Canadian opponent. The Brazilian failed to come up with a submission try as she was dominated from the start.
