The upcoming Sugar Bowl matchup will pit No. 15 Texas against No. 5 Georgia in a thrilling college football betting matchup. Some late season mishaps for Georgia assured that Kirby Smart’s squad would miss out on the college football playoffs, and now they’re looking for a Sugar Bowl win to take their minds off things. The Longhorns are coming off an impressive season that included 9 wins against ranked opponents. Now they’re looking for one final sportsbook upset to call the season a wrap. So what kind of Sugar Bowl betting action can we expect this Tuesday night?

College Football Betting Odds:
The Longhorns turned in a 9-4 record season that included a 7-2 performance in Big 12 play. This led to a 2nd place ranking in the conference and an invite to the Big 12 Championship. There they would face No. 5 Oklahoma in a 39-27 losing effort. All in all Texas delivered a respectable performance albeit one that was not good enough to top the No. 5 team in the country. Now they look to topple No. 5 again in this upcoming Sugar Bowl matchup. The odds are pegging Texas as a heavy underdog which isn’t all that surprising when taking a look at the numbers. Right now Texas is scoring 31.3 per game and are giving up 16.2 per matchup. On the other hand, Georgia is scoring 39.2 per game and is giving up a slim 18.5. If those numbers pan out on New Years’ Day, Texas will find themselves losing to yet another No. 5 nationally ranked opponent.
Players to Watch: Sam Ehlinger (3,123 passing yards, 25 TD, 5 INT), Tre Watson (695 rushing yards, 3 TD, 4.2 AVG), and Lil’Jordan Humphrey (1,109 receiving yards, 9 TD, 79 REC).
The Bulldogs finished the season with an eye-raising 11-2 record. And with a 7-1 record in conference play, Georgia finished as the best team in the East Division of the SEC. Obviously this would get them an invite to the conference championship where they would concede a 35-28 loss to No. 1 Alabama. Ultimately it was this conference championship loss as well as their midseason loss to No. 13 LSU that cost Georgia a spot in the college football playoffs. Nevertheless Georgia is still pegged as a massive favorite in this postseason matchup.
Players to Watch: Jake Fromm (2,537 passing yards, 27 TD, 5 INT), D’Andre Swift (1,037 rushing yards, 10 TD, 6.7 AVG), and Mecole Hardman (529 receiving yards, 6 TD, 33 REC).
