Carson Beck QB vs Jalen Milroe QB

Carson Beck has put together an efficient season for the Bulldogs, completing 68% of his passes for nearly 3500 yards, 22 touchdowns and 6 interceptions. The sophomore displays good decision-making and has shown development in going through his progressions. However, Beck has been aided by a dominant run game and stout defense. He will need to step up in the passing game for the Bulldogs to keep pace if Alabama loads the box to stop the run. Beck is not prone to forcing throws but can be quick to check down if his primary read is covered. He shows quality arm strength but doesn’t take many chances downfield. Facing an Alabama defense that can stop the run may require Beck to attack the Tide’s vulnerable secondary to loosen things up. 

Jalen Milroe took over the starting job midseason and has dazzled as a dual-threat weapon. He has tallied over 2500 passing yards with 21 touchdowns and 6 picks while adding 357 rushing yards and 3 scores. The redshirt freshman is still raw as a passer but his athleticism and playmaking flair have energized the Tide’s attack. Milroe must avoid the turnover issues that have cropped up due to risky decisions. But his running threat puts tremendous pressure on defenses, especially when scrambling on broken plays. If Georgia loses contain, Milroe is capable of burning them for big gains on the ground while also hurting the Dawgs deep with an explosive receiving corps.

Dawgs’ Ground Attack Could Be Deciding Factor

The Bulldogs boast the nation’s third-best rushing attack, racking up 186 yards per game on the ground. Daijun Edwards leads the charge with 781 yards and 11 touchdowns while Kendall Milton has pitched in 578 yards and 7 scores. Georgia has tremendous depth at running back and will look to control time of possession. If Edwards and Milton find room to run behind the elite offensive line, it could neutralize Alabama’s pass rush.
