ACC Men’s Basketball 2023-2024: Schedule, Teams, and Predictions

ACC Men’s Basketball 2023-2024: Are you ready to bet on ACC games this season? This conference is so much more than just the schools in the state of North Carolina. The truth is that this year the ACC is more wide open than ever. Sure, there are some favorites, some great teams, but when it comes to a consensus number one, there are plenty of teams that could do very well. As ever, you can bet on all of the games right here at our site.

Who’s going to be the surprise team in college basketball picks this year? Last year, for example, Pittsburgh went on a run when perhaps very, very few imagined that they were going to be much of a team. This year, the ACC tournament (as well as everything else) is completely up for grabs. No matter which of the players you like or which school you’re rooting for, there’s plenty of money to be made all season long in the ACC.

Preseason Predictions and Rankings: the Cream of the Crop

Duke. They’re the team that most see as the team to be the ACC champion this year. Sure, Coach K may be gone, but Duke returns so many beasts to their squad. Jeremy Roach, Caleb Foster, Tyrese Proctor, Mark Mitchell, Kyle Filipowski – the Blue Devils continue their streak of being perhaps the best team in the conference.

Making this rivalry as powerful as can be, as of this writing, the team that is seen as the number two team in the Atlantic Coast Conference this year are the North Carolina Tar Heels. Yes, last year was perhaps the worst season in Chapel Hill in recent memory (at least in terms of preseason expectations), but this year, NC returns a squad. They’ve got RJ Davis, Armando Bacot, Harrison Ingram, and even players like Elliot Cadeau could help the Tar Heels return to prominence. Duke vs. North Carolina – that’s as ACC as it gets.

The number three team in the ACC in the eyes of many might be a surprise to some, but not to many who watched last year’s Final Four: the Miami Hurricanes. The Canes are a squad. They return plenty of great players. They had never reached the Elite Eight before last year and now they’re looking to build on that and so much more.

While the two highest scorers may have gone on to The Show, they do bring back Matthew Cleveland, Nijel Pack, and others. These are the top three in the conference according to the experts. But, that’s why they play the games. What do you think? What are you going to bet?

ACC Men’s Basketball 2023-2024: Middle of the Pack in the ACC

After that, there’s a lot more disparity in terms of this conference. For example, many see Clemson, Virginia, and Wake Forest as more or less all in the same position.

Sure, Clemson didn’t make the Big Dance last year, but they return quite a team. Indeed, they did well in the transfer portal, bringing in players from Syracuse (you can hear Jim Boheim complaining from here).

In Virginia, the Cavaliers return a team that will challenge the great Tony Bennett. He’s got plenty of high recruits, yes, but they’re all inexperienced. But, in the ACC, experience has a way of showing up after just a few games in this tough conference. Do you think that the Cav’s defensive structure can help them to build a new generation of studs?

The Demon Deacons could very well go to the big tournament this year. Steve Forbes hasn’t led them here yet, but he very well could. Hunter Sallis is going to be a hunter on the court, giving him a chance to be the kind of player that can take over games.

That’s what the bookmakers think (more or less). What do you, the bettors, think?

Those Expected to Be Towards the Bottom of the Conference

Virginia Tech may have had a great beginning to the last season, but the Hokies absolutely fell off since then. Losing seven games in a row in conference will do that. They might be another middle of the pack team, but do you think they can go higher?

Right around them is the NC State Wolfpack. North Carolina State did not have a good year the year previously, hence they went aggressively into the transfer portal. They’ve got plenty of players again, but will they be able to come together in time to make a run?

The Florida State Seminoles hasn’t made the NCAA’s in the last two years. That’s too long for the Noles. So, they went wild in the transfer portal bringing in plenty of good players. Taylor Bowen looks like an absolute stud in terms of recruits, so this could be a great year for the Noles (or it might be next year).

Pitt went back to the tournament last year for the first time under Jeff Capel. The Panthers may have brought The Zoo back to life and they’ve got plenty of players returning. But, can they find that magic a second time.

The Orangemen may not have what the Panthers (or any of the teams above this) may have. For the first time in roughly 50 years, there will be a new coach in Syracuse. The team is basically starting over, too. This may be a rebuilding year in upstate New York.

Boston College, Georgia Tech, Louisville, and Notre Dame are all seen as teams that, in one way or the other, will bring up the rear in the conference. But… do you feel differently? If you were to bet on any of these schools to do well and then they do, that could be a lucrative bet indeed.

NCAA Tournament Projections for the ACC and All Conferences
