This weekend’s action will mark the first time the UFC has held an event in Rochester, New York. As is all too common in the UFC, there was a pullout for this event. Neil Magny was originally set to face Vicente Luqe but was forced to pull out in May. Following some a positive test for Di-Hydroxy-LGD-4033, Magny was removed from the card. Subsequently UFC newcomer Derrik Krantz came in to fill the sports betting void.

Rafael dos Anjos enters this fight in a bit of a rut after losing the last two fights of his career in a row. Additionally, dos Anjos is 3-4 in his last 7 and is undoubtedly looking to build some stock this weekend. Although his two recent losses have come via decision, the Brazilian was manhandled in both of those fights. Now dos Anjos looks to bounce back against Lee, who hasn’t had the best of luck as of late either. In this weekend’s bout, dos Anjos advantage will undoubtedly lie in his striking. Although Lee is a capable striker on his own, his wrestling is what defines his style. Although dos Anjos has a strong takedown, it’s unlikely that he’ll resort to that this weekend.
On the contrary, we can expect him to come out in a Muay Thai stance and use high-volume striking to back Lee to the cage. At the end of the day, we all know that the Brazilian’s technique lies not in landing powerful punches but swarming his opponent’s with more volume than they can handle. Considering that Lee has only one career loss via TKO, it’s clear this will be one heck of a fight.
Kevin Lee enters this weekend’s action with a 17-4 professional MMA record. Coming off a decision loss against Al Iaquinta, Lee is looking to fight his way to a title shot. Having lost two of his last 3 fights, it’s safe to say that Lee’s stock is pretty low at the moment. However, a win over an MMA veteran like dos Anjos would certainly skyrocket it. Lee’s path to victory lies in using his wrestling and jiu-jitsu to disrupt the Brazilian’s game plan. We saw Colby Covington enjoy a ton of success against dos Anjos by applying unrelenting pressure. Sports betting fans can expect something similar out of Lee this weekend.
