UFC on Fox 23 Online UFC Betting Main Card Preview
While the online UFC betting community might have a hard time thinking about anything other than the potential matchup between MMA’s biggest star and Floyd Mayweather, the organization is still doing its best to keep UFC sportsbooks buzzing with the latest matchups between the biggest names in MMA. Next up on the UFC’s agenda is UFC on Fox 23: Shevchenko vs. Peña.
UFC on Fox 23 is the promotional company’s next upcoming event scheduled to take place on Saturday, January 28th at the Pepsi Center in Denver, Colorado. The UFC on Fox events aren’t as glamorous as the PPV cards the UFC holds but nevertheless the main card is still stacked with some of the biggest names in the UFC. With that in mind, let’s take a look at the official main card to see which bout is most deserving of a bet on MMA.

Ever since Ronda Rousey got humiliated on a global scale, the UFC has desperately been racing around trying to find their next biggest star. In the past Dana White, the UFC’s president, has publically stated that Rousey, not McGregor, is the UFC’s biggest star but every UFC sportsbook fans knows that wasn’t true when he said it and it certainly isn’t true now. In the end, White’s comments were motivated by leverage; if he publically admits that McGregor is the UFC’s biggest star – or only star – that only gives the Irishman even more leverage when asking for a raise.
With that in mind, it’s obvious why White is putting together Shevchenko vs. Peña as the headlining match of the night. ‘Bullet’ Shevchenko has been gaining notoriety ever since she defeated Holly Holm via decision at UFC on Fox 20 way back in July. However, there are still many online UFC betting fans who would argue that Donald Cerrone is the bigger star. Ever since ‘Cowboy’ made the move up to the 170lb division, Cerrone has been delivering some of the most brilliant knockouts we’ve seen in recent times.
Shevchenko will face off against Julianna Peña, a UFC up-and-comer fighting out of Spokane, Washington. Peña, dubbed ‘The Venezuelan Vixen’ will be making her 4th UFC appearance and has enjoyed an undefeated streak so far. Peña has an 8-2 MMA record and is 3-0 in the UFC. ‘The Venezuelan Vixen’ will be coming off her recent win over Cat Zingano via decision at UFC 200 last July.
As previously mentioned, ‘Bullet’ will be coming off her recent victory over Holm but before that the Peruvian-Russian-Kyrgyzstani fighter lost to Amanda Nunes via submission – which is saying a lot considering that Rousey couldn’t even last 48 seconds against the ‘Lioness’. Interestingly enough, UFC sportsbooks are having a hard time favoring one fighter over the other and both lines for Shevchenko and Peña feature similar odds.
