Joseph Benavidez is a 35-year-old American professional MMA fighter that hails from Sacramento, California. He has been fighting at the flyweight division for his entire career and stables at the world-renowned Team Alpha Male. Benavidez holds a professional MMA record of 28 wins and five losses. Coming to this match, he is on a three-fight winning streak and took victories on Alex Perez, Dustin Ortiz and Jussier Formiga.

Victories included taking out opponents like Marco Beltran, Jarred Brooks and Joseph Morales.

He suffered his first recorded professional MMA loss to Justin Formiga. It was a unanimous decision by the judges just this March 2019. He went on and fought two more times in 2019 and scored victories against Alexandre Pantoja and Tim Elliott. Figueiredo is a swiss army knife of moves as he finished his matches in creative ways.
