UFC 288: Gracie vs Jourdain 05/06/2023 Odds
Main Card
Kron Gracie
Kron Gracie (5-1, 1-1 UFC) is the latest family member of the legendary jiu-jitsu clan to step foot inside the world-famous octagon. He first fought in the UFC in February 2019 and won via a one-round rear-naked choke submission over Alex Caceres. Almost eight months later, he was paired with Cub Swanson absorbed his first and only loss in the MMA circuit. In that fight, Gracie uncharacteristically stood up against Swanson to make it a striking battle. Fighting out of his comfort zone resulted to a setback, which he looks to cancel out in his upcoming fight opposite Jourdain. Gracie has won all of his five matches by submission and he is expected to bring his world-class mat game back when he fights again in the UFC after a more than three-year hiatus from the sport.
Charles Jourdain
Also known in the fight circles as Charles “Air,” Jourdain (13-6-1, 4-5-1 UFC) looks to bounce back from two straight losses against Shane Burgos and Wood. The Canadian has fought 10 times in the UFC and won four times. Jourdain’s specialty is striking as he had landed 5.84 significant strikes per minute during his stints in the UFC. However, he is not adept in grappling as his takedown average in 0.12 per 15 minutes and his takedown accuracy is just 16%. His takedown defense is just less than 50% and that he needs to improve as he will be up against a grappling expert in Gracie. In his 13 wins, eight come by way of knockout and four others ended via submission.

Gracie vs Jourdain Betting Picks
Gracie and Jourdain are determined to get back to the winning column and improve their rankings in the featherweight category. Both will be hard-pressed to earn that W to secure more lucrative matches in the future. MMA betting picks are slightly in favor of the Canadian due to his experience in UFC bouts as compared to Gracie, who will have his third fight in the octagon. However, Gracie’s mat capabilities are excellent and it could be a factor in this match, as he will try to shoot for takedowns and outmaneuver Jourdain for a possible submission attempt.
Jourdain, on the other hand, needs to defend Gracie’s takedowns to stymie the Brazilian’s attempts to gain some offense and control on the mat. The first fighter who dictates the tempo of the match will have a better chance of winning the showdown and regain their footing as one of the contenders in the 145-pound class.
