The night will be headlined by a UFC Middleweight Championship bout between current champ Robert Whittaker and Kelvin Gastelum. This bout represents Gastelum’s first shot at UFC brass and interestingly enough, it’s against the winner of The Ultimate Fighter: The Smashes welterweight winner. This is somewhat ironic since Gastelum himself won the middleweight in The Ultimate Fighter: Team Jones vs. Team Sonnen. Ultimately this weekend’s fight will determine who the best welterweight out of those two seasons truly is. And while the headlining fight is highly intriguing, the co-headlining bout of the night is just as enthralling.
This is because the bout pits Stylebender, the nickname the up-and-coming Adesanya has adopted that accurately reflects his seemingly unnatural fighting style. Adesanya made a name for himself in the world of kickboxing and has had zero problems adopting to the octagon. At the end of the day he brings a zealous style that is accentuated by crisp, seemingly perfect movements. This makes his matchup against Anderson Silva highly interesting because Silva is ubiquitously regarded as one of the best strikers to ever grace the inside of the octagon. The Brazilian is known for his uncanny ability to stand in front of a fighter and dodge blows right before they hit. Bottom line, don’t miss out on this fight.
Main Card & UFC 234 Betting Odds
The current champ is preparing for what should be his second defend of his UFC Middleweight Championship. However, since Yoel Romero missed weight at UFC 225, the fight was considered a non-title bout. And since the title wasn’t on the line, it wasn’t really a successful defense. Nevertheless, there’s no one taking anything away from what Whittaker displayed in that fight. It’s not easy to fight an Olympic Wrestler for 25 minutes back-to-back. And even though Romero’s immense figure causes him to fatigue quickly, even a tired Romero is a terrifying sight for just about anybody on the planet. But feat was the one thing Whittaker didn’t display in those fights. And if Yoel Romero can’t get a little fear out of you, there isn’t a single person on the planet that can shake your core.
The only thing to doubt about Whittaker is how well will his body bounce back from two brutal wars against Romero. But judging from the fierce Maori genes he brings to the table, he shouldn’t have any problems.
Prelims & UFC 234 Betting Odds
Kelvin Gastelum is the complete package that represents the epitome of the modern fighter. He can stand toe-to-toe against the best of them and his wrestling advantage gives him an advantage. The only problem is his stature. At 5 ft. 9 in., Gastelum isn’t exactly cowering over anybody. While he’s still bigger than almost anybody his size on the planet, he’s facing the best of the best at the Welterweight. We’ll find out just what he brings to the table this weekend, but mobile betting players shouldn’t write him off for his size. After all ,he’s been taking down bigger competition his whole career.
