As aforementioned, this weekend’s action will be headlined by a UFC Bantamweight Championship match between TJ Dillashaw and Cody Garbrandt. Both fighters are former champs and you’d be hard pressed to find 2 UFC fighters who hate each other more than these two. Especially since Dillashaw just beat Garbrandt at UFC 217 to claim the title. So why is there so much bad blood between these two?
Most of the drama escalated on The Ultimate Fighter when both fighters appeared on the cast. During that time, Garbrandt consistently attacked Dillashaw and called him a snake. Since Dillashaw was leaving his camp and heading elsewhere, Garbrandt and his crew felt justified in their attacks. And while Dillashaw deserved some criticism, he ultimately got the best of Garbrandt. Now Cody has a shot at revenge.
Main Card & UFC 227 Betting Odds
TJ Dillashaw enters this weekend’s action sporting a 15-3 professional record. Obviously, his last fight was against Garbrandt at UFC 217, where he won the title. To earn the title shot, Dillashaw put together a 2-fight win streak over John Lineker and Raphael Assuncao. Before those two fights, Dillashaw lost his Bantamweight belt to Dominick Cruz at UFC Fight Night 81. However, Dillashaw was quite a successful champion considering he won the belt at UFC 173 and successfully defended it twice. Now Dillashaw looks to reign in another title defense against his bitter rival.
On the other hand, Cody Garbrandt is focused on avenging his recent loss to Dillashaw. Those who remember the fight will recall that Garbrandt nearly knocked Dillashaw out early in the fight. In fact, had there been 10 more seconds in the round, Garbrandt would’ve undoubtedly finished Dillashaw. This fact makes this weekend’s event all that more alluring, since it’s definitely a tossup. The odds seem to be slightly sticking with Dillashaw. However, they’re far from pegging Garbrandt as the underdog. Which makes sense all things considered. After all, Garbrandt nearly won the fight the first time these two met. With a couple of adjustments, he should be able to finish the job this time around. Ultimately this is a great experience for players learning how to bet UFC fights online.
