UFC 225 Betting Picks
Robert Whittaker vs. Yoel Romero
We all saw how thrilling the first matchup was between those two and we can expect an equally entertaining bout. Whittaker might be the more technical of the two and might even be more well-rounded. However, Romero brings an athleticism and tenacity that is almost unrivaled in the sport. While Whittaker won the first matchup via decision, he’ll be going up against a more experienced Romero this time around. Specifically, Romero has talked about how much training with Jon Jones has helped him elevate his game. The Cuban claims that Jones has taught him how to be more patient and choose his openings. If that’s the case, we might see Cuba get its first UFC online betting champion this weekend.
Pick: Romero gets the knockout in the bottom of the third. The MMA parlay odds make this a great pick as well.
Rafael dos Anjos vs. Colby Covington
This is one of the most dramatic fights of the year. RDA comes in with the hopes of Brazil as the entire country is enraged by Covington’s antics. Covington, a fighter who has been with the promotion for a while, decided he needed to get more press by opening his mouth. Since then, Covington has said every stupidity you can think off, and has been more of a cringe than anything else. But since Covington went after Brazil the hardest, RDA has a lot on his shoulders. Rafael dos Anjos isn’t just competing for the Welterweight Interim belt this weekend, he’s also looking to avenge his country. The real question for this bout is whether or not RDA can keep his cool or if he’ll let his emotion get the best of him.
Pick: RDA manages to keep his cool and submits Covington late in the 4th. This is one of the better online sportsbook picks to make this weekend.
Holly Holm vs. Megan Anderson
An extremely enticing matchup between two of the best fighters on the planet. Holm became a superstar overnight with her head kick knockout over Rousey. But since then, Holm has struggled to rise to recognition. Many UFC pundits have accurately criticized her game for being too uptight and tense. In fact, most of Holm’s fights within the UFC have been 5-round championship matchups. This weekend’s bout marks only her 3rd 3-round bout. Hopefully this will afford her the opportunity to relax and get back into her groove.
Andrei Arlovski vs. Tai Tuivasa
This is an interesting matchup to say the least. Arlovski is a seasoned veteran and will be taking on one of the most promising prospects the UFC has to offer. Tuivasa has been turning heads so far in his MMA career by delivering a 1st round knockout against all 7 of his opponents so far. Will he see the second round against Arlovski? That’s the real question this weekend.
Pick: Tuivasa gets another 1st round KO
CM Punk vs. Mike Jackson
Well this fight has gotten a ton of criticism for not being worthy of Main Card inclusion. However, money talks and CM Punk is certainly a draw. Not only that, bringing a former WWE superstar will do more good for the sport than harm. But as for predicting this matchup, well pretty much out of luck. Neither of these fighters are UFC caliber and we haven’t seen enough out of either side to be able to accurately predict this pairing.
Pick: This UFC 225 betting pick will go to CM Punk just because it’s CM Punk.
