UFC 223 Betting Odds, Preview, & Expert Analysis

This weekend is filled to the brim with intriguing online UFC betting opportunities, or should I say UFC 223 betting opportunities. No doubt this was one of the most highly anticipated UFC events of the year. Unfortunately, a last-minute injury has thrown the headlining fight of the night into a bit of a whirlpool. Luckily, Max Holloway is enough a mad man to step in on 6-days’ notice to face the Dagestani gangster that is Khabib Nurmagomedov. Just how big of a beating are the weekend’s sports parlay odds predicting for the 145 lb. champ?

Main Card & UFC 223 Betting Odds
Nurmagomedov was originally booked to face Tony Ferguson in a matchup we were all looking forward to. With a 25-0 professional record, Nurmagomedov has yet to face someone inside the cage who can rival his prowess. The Russian is trained in Sambo. Sambo is a wrestling style of MMA that focuses on using strength to overpower and dominate your opponent. This made for a highly interesting matchup against Ferguson, who’s trained in 10th planet jiu-jitsu made him a dangerous opponent for Nurmagomedov. Since jiu-jitsu focuses on technique and using your opponent’s strength against him, Ferguson might have stood a chance against the Russian. But now we’ll be witnessing Holloway taking on Nurmagomedov.
A monster in his own right, Holloway is the current featherweight champion. It’s been 5-years since Max has lost a fight an 4 since he’s been taken down. Unfortunately, Holloway hasn’t faced anyone quite like Nurmagomedov in his entire career. And on 6-days’ notice, it’s difficult to imagine Holloway getting the job done this Saturday. If he pulls it off, he’ll be cemented as one of the greatest to ever set foot inside the cage. And if he doesn’t, he’ll still be respected for having the gallbladder to step in there. All in all, the weekend’s online UFC betting odds don’t paint a pretty picture for Holloway.
UFC 223 Betting Prediction: Nurmagomedov pummels the Hawaiian and wins by TKO in the 4th to become the lightweight champion.
Namajunas vs. Jedrzejczyk || UFC 223 Betting Analysis
The co-headlining fight of the night is arguably the most intriguing pairing. Current women’s strawweight champion Rose Namajunas looks to turn in her first title defense against the women she took it from. Back at UFC 217, Namajunas shocked the world by knocking out Joanna in the 1st round of their championship bout. Afterwards, Joanna blamed her weight cut for her poor performance, stating that she was completely drained. While that might be true, pitting the blame on exterior circumstances is not the true hallmark of a champion. Now, after having her mouth shut by the humble Namajunas, Joanna looks to retake what she perceives to be rightfully hers. Correspondingly, she’s pegged as the online UFC betting underdog this weekend.

Ray Borg will be making his return to the cage after suffering a humbling defeat to Mighty Mouse back at UFC 216. As most fans will recall, Johnson manhandled Borg for most of the night before delivering a fantastic finish. Specifically, Johnson raised Borg in the air and dropped him on the mat. But before his opponent could hit the floor, Johnson secured a devastating arm bar. In doing so, Mighty Mouse arose to legend status by performing a finish never before seen in the UFC. Now Borg looks to prove that the is one of the best on the planet by taking on Brandon Moreno. Surprisingly, The top sportsbook lines peg him as the favorite.

UFC 223 Betting Update
As of early this Friday morning, UFC 223 has undergone some drastic changes all thanks to Conor McGregor. The Notorious displayed his displeasure for the UFC’s decision to strip him of his lightweight belt with this provocative tweet before taking matters into his own hands.
While McGregor has a history of being a provocateur, he has unquestionably gone too far this time. Specifically, the Irishman stormed the UFC 223 media day this past Thursday to get a piece of Khabib. Nurmagomedov had recently cornered Artem Lobov to challenge him about some questionable statements made by the fellow Russian.
On one hand, Nurmagomedov acted out of line by cornering the lone Lobov. On the other, McGregor’s retaliation was not only over the top, it was criminal. After charging the hotel in which the UFC Fighters were held, McGregor proceeded to stalk Nurmagomedov. It should be mentioned that the Irishman was let into the building by one of his own. In fact, it was The Mac Life crew who let him in. They were in the building covering Lobov and had press credentials. Who knows how long it took, but McGregor was eventually able to locate Nurmagomedov – who was in a bus loaded with the red corner fighters. The UFC’s biggest star then proceeded to toss any and all items he could get his hands on at the bus. Check out the video below.
McGregor’s UFC 223 Betting Impact
The aftermath of the incident has had wide ranging impacts that has affected the pockets of more than a few individuals. Firstly, Michael Chiesa has been removed from the card by the NYSAC. Chiesa was on the Main Card but suffered lacerations to his face after McGregor tossed a dolly through the bus’s window. On top of that, Ray Borg, who was scheduled on the undercard, suffered an eye injury as some glassy debris rendered the fighter unable to compete.
This is a huge blow to this weekend’s event. While there has been added publicity, this type of behavior is completely unacceptable. From its ignition, the UFC has always marketed itself as a straight-up brand. Contrasted against WWE or the scandal-ridden world of boxing, the UFC built it’s company on this precedent. There’s no question they’ll be looking to go after Connor financially, along with a myriad of other damaged parties. McGregor is currently in police custody and is slated to appear before a jury this Friday.
