Online UFC Betting Preview for Fight Night 106’s Main Card

After online UFC betting fans were treated to a controversial, and what many sportsbook players considered to be a disappointing, title match at UFC 209, those who bet on MMA are eager to get onto the next event the promotional company is holding. That just happens to be Fight Night 106, but once again, the UFC has failed to produce, or schedule, a big name fighter.

The UFC, unlike boxing, has taken a different approach to the way it promotes and develops their fighters. In boxing it’s all about the fighter, not the promotion, and this is likely due to the various different boxing leagues, and boxing promotions out there. The UFC decided to take a more unified approach, and for the company it’s all about promoting the UFC, not the fighters. That way, fans know that they will be treated to a show each and every time they go to a UFC show, no matter which fighters are competing. However, for online UFC betting fans who are more interested in seeing big name fighters, this approach isn’t as favorable.

Nevertheless, the UFC will continue to build its brand name and continue to give their fighters the short end of the stick, just like they did with the Reebok deal. So, with those things in mind, let’s take a look at what action the UFC has in store for fans with UFC Fight Night 106, as well as the sportsbook odds each fighter is facing.

Vitor Belfort 1 ½ (+140)        +340 vs. Kelvin Gastelum 1 ½ (-160) -425

Mauricio Rua  1½ (+130)       -150 vs. Gian Villante 1 ½ (-160)       +120

Edson Barboza 2½ (+165)      -170 vs. Beneil Dariush 2 ½ (-190)     +150

Jussier Formiga 2 ½ (-240)      -135 vs. Ray Borg 2 ½ (+180)            +105

Bethe Correia 2 ½ (-255)       -110 vs.  Marion Reneau 2 ½ (+195)  -120

Alex Oliveira   1 ½ (-150)       +175 vs. Tim Means    1 ½ (+120)      -225

Fight Night 106 is the UFC’s forthcoming event to be held this upcoming weekend on Saturday, March 11th at the Centro de Formacao Olimpica de Nordeste in Fortaleza, Brazil. This event will mark the second time the US has held an event in Ceara, one of the 27 states of Brazil.

The night will be headlined by a match between Vitor Belfort, a former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion as well as UFC 12 Heavyweight Tournament winner, and Kelvin Gastelum, who won The Ultimate Fighter: Team Jones vs. Team Sonnen back in 2012.

Gastelum opens as a heavy sportsbook favorite over Belfort, and comes into Fight Night 106 with a 13-2 MMA record. Gastelum is coming off his most recent victory via TKO over Tim Kennedy at UFC 206 and is riding a two-fight win streak.

Vitor ‘The Phenom’ Belfort is a much older fighter and owns a 25-13 MMA record. Additionally, Belfort fights out of Rio de Janeiro so it’s more than probable that the home crowd will be rooting for one of their own. Belfort has lost two fights consecutively and the sportsbooks think Gastelum will make it three in a row.
