Because McGregor is the biggest name in fighting, and because Khabib is still undefeated, many sports betting fans are claiming this will be the biggest fight the world has ever seen. Granted, McGregor helped hype things up by almost going to jail thanks to his now infamous bus-window-breaking debacle. With that in mind, let’s take a look at what the bookmakers are currently predicting.

Online UFC Betting Odds:

Khabib Nurmagomedov -185

Conor McGregor

McGregor has taken a lot of slack recently due to taking an extended break from the sport. The Irishman took long enough in securing the fight against Mayweather. And while the MMA community excused him on behalf of the magnitude of the fight, it did not excuse him in taking as long as he has in returning to the octagon. Ultimately this return saw McGregor get stripped of his lightweight belt, which now belongs to his UFC 229 opponent. No one really expects the break to affect McGregor’s prowess, power, or timing. However, despite all that, McGregor is still pegged as the betting underdog here. Considering how much he got support he got in his fight against one of the greatest boxers ever, bettors should expect McGregor fans to move this line up tremendously. In other words, if you want to take McGregor as an underdog, take him now.

Recent Fights: Floyd Mayweather (Boxing, lost via KO), Eddie Alvarez (UFC 205, won UFC Lightweight title via KO), and Nate Diaz (UFC 202, won via Majority Decision).

Khabib Nurmagomedov

Khabib has risen to prominence thanks to his brutal fighting style. While other fighters prefer fancy knockouts or flashy finishes, Nurmagomedov is all about getting his opponent dirty. The Eagle prefers to pin his opponents to the cage, take the single leg to get them to the ground, and continue to ground and pound until they lose the will to live. We’ve seen Nurmagomedov do this to just about everybody he has faced in the cage. The only question is whether or not he’ll be able to do it to McGregor. Conor isn’t just the biggest name in the sport, he’s arguably the most dangerous UFC fighter on his feet. His high fight IQ combines with his excellent timing to quite literally bounce heads of the canvas. On top of that, Nurmagomedov isn’t that great on his feet.

If however, the Russian is able to get him down early, there should be no way McGregor escapes.

Recent Fights: Al Iaquinta (UFC 223, won UFC Lightweight Title via Unanimous Decision), Edson Barboza (UFC 219, won via Unanimous Decision), and Michael Johnson (UFC 205, won via Kimura).
