Simona Halep -160
Elina Svitolina +135
Caroline vs. Caroline
This will be the first matchup of the day, pitting the Danish Wozniacki against the French Garcia. Woz has posted a perfect record in the Red Group so far and is coming off a blowout against No. 1 Simona Halep – 6-0, and 6-2. For comparison, Garcia is coming off an important win over Elina Svitolina; 6-7, 6-3, and 7-5. Both were impressive wines but there’s no question that Wozniacki’s was significantly more impactful.
Wozniacki, a former top player in the standings, has unquestionably aimed to improve her form and the results have been positive so far this tournament. In the first two rounds of the WTA Finals, the Dane managed to smash her opponents, including her most impressive triumph over Halep. In that outing, Wozniacki delivered 72% of her points on her first serve. That is an astounding statistic that shows exactly shy she did allot any breaks in the entire tournament. Naturally, the online tennis betting odds are favoring Woz over her French opponent.
However, her French opponent just happens to be No. 8 in the WTA standings and still has a very real chance of making the semifinals. Granted, if she’s to get it done she’ll have to do it by posting a 2-0 finish. That’s easier said than done especially against an opponent of Wozniacki’s talents. In her last match against Svitolina, Garcia managed to force 16 breakpoints, converting 7 of them. On the flip side, she allowed 11 chances and failed on 5 occasions. Additionally, she has had 31 unforced errors. That type of performance will not be enough against Woz.
Halep vs. Svitolina
These two have faced each other three times throughout their careers and Svitolina has come out on top 2 of those three. The most recent being in this year’s Canadian Masters, which saw Svitolina win in 14. Despite that finish, online tennis bookmakers are siding with Halep this Friday.
