The Tournament

The 2021 Miami Open is the 36th edition of the tennis tournament. It is played on a hard-court surface and is the second time that the event takes place in Hard Rock Stadium. The joint ATP-WTA event was originally slated for March 23-April 5, 2020, but was canceled due to the coronavirus situation in Miami-Dade County. The event offers 1,000 points for the winners of the men’s and women’s singles competitions. In 2019, Roger Federer and Ashleigh Barty won the event but Federer will not defend the title as he pulled out due to the outbreak while the Australian netter will defend the title as she is listed to take part in the event. Aside from Federer, World No1 Novak Djokovic and Spanish clay-court maestro Rafael Nadal also begged off from the tournament, leaving the Open a wide-open race.

2021 Miami Open Pick

The top sports betting website sees a wide-open race in the men’s singles with Djokovic, Federer, Nadal, Thiem begging off. However, Medvedev stands as the early favorite in this event due to his consistent showing in the past tournaments. The Russian will be challenged by a bunch of young up-and-comers in Stefanos Tsitsipas, Akexander Zverev, and Andrey Rublev. On the women’s side, Barty has a very good chance of defending her crown successfully but she will have tough competition ahead in the likes of Osaka, Halep, Kenin, Svitolina, Pliskova, Williams, and other veteran netters taking part in the event. It will be difficult to bet on an early favorite on the women’s side because anyone can have a good two weeks and win the title.
