Daniil Medvedev

The Russian World No. 5 netter sent shockwaves to the ASB Classic when he announced his withdrawal on Friday. Medvedev’s sudden pullout was connected by Team Russia’s stint in the Association of Tennis Professionals Cup with the team reaching the semifinals. His endurance was tested during the ATP Cup as he played five singles and two singles. It is possible that he pulled out of the ASB Classic to rest for the upcoming Australian Open slated on January 20-February 2 in Melbourne.

2020 ATP ASB Classic Betting Favorite: Denis Shapovalov

Mobile betting players favor Denis Shapovalov to win it all in the tournament based on his consistent play as of late. The Canadian has figured in the finals in the last two events he was in. Shapovalov made it to the championship round of the ATP Paris Masters in November only to lose to Novak Djokovic in straight sets. Then weeks later, the 20-year-old helped Canada qualify for the 2019 Davis Cup finals where they placed second behind the Rafael Nadal-led Spain. Shapovalov is expected to resume his run in the ASB Classic but he will meet tough competition in Fabio Fognini, Karen Khachanov, John Isner and defending champion Tennys Sandgren.
