FIFA Confederations Cup - Thursday, June 22th, 2017 Odds Preview

The FIFA Confederations Cup, one of this year’s best online soccer betting tournaments, continues this Thursday. Yesterday we saw Group A’s squads settle their differences and this Thursday sportsbook players can wager on Group B’s contests. Let’s glance over Wednesday’s results before we take a look at Thursday’s lineup.

Wednesday’s Online Soccer Betting Results

The first match of the day featured Russia and Portugal going head to head. The sports betting online odds for that contest were drawing some very interesting action, due to Russia’s surprising performance in their first match of the contest. Many betting sites, alongside bettors, were expecting Russia to once again shock the world. In the end, the Portuguese would not budge and were able to shut out the Russians, 1-0.

After that contest had wrapped up, Mexico and New Zealand took center stage for their contest. New Zealand had just come off an embarrassing defeat at the hands of what many considered to be an inferior team (Russia) and the Kiwis desperately needed to make an impression, as well as pick up some much needed points. That didn’t turn out to be the case as the Mexicans dealt New Zealand a 2-1 defeat.

With those contests in the books, the leaderboard for Group A has undergone a major facelift. Mexico and Portugal have now tied for the lead, since they’re the only team in Group A to not have suffered a loss yet. Group A will take to the field this Saturday once again. New Zealand will face Portugal at 11:00 am ET and Mexico will square off against Russia at that same time.

Thursday’s contests will help clear up the current standings in Group B. As things currently stand, Chile and Germany are tied atop the group with three points a pop. Beneath them are Australia and Cameroon who both have failed to post any points. Let’s take a look at the sportsbook odds Group B will face this Thursday.

FIFA Confederations Cup – Australia vs. Cameroon – Thursday, June 22nd

Australia PK (-133)   2 ½ (-124)       +145

Cameroon PK (+118)            2 ½ (+109)      +207

Australia/Cameroon Draw +245

Both Australia and Cameroon are winless in this year’s tournament. Cameroon suffered a humbling 2-0 defeat at the hands of Chile this past Sunday. Similarly, Australia suffered a 3-2 defeat at the hands of Germany. Neither team is listed as an online soccer betting favorite. However, Australia’s ability to score against the Germans certainly makes it seem like they’ll have the upper hand in this contest.

FIFA Confederations Cup – Germany vs. Chile – Thursday, June 22nd

When: 2:00 pm ET

Where: Kazan Arena, Kazan

Series: Group Stage (B)

TV: Fox Sports 1, Telemundo

Stream: Fox Soccer 2 Go

Sports Betting online Odds:

Germany PK (-116)   3 (-140)           +159

Chile PK (+101)         3 (+125)          +180

Germany/Chile Draw +261

This is the match most sports betting online players will be focusing on and rightfully so. Both teams have appeared sharp so far, but Chile’s ability to shut out their opponent puts their defense in superior lighting. But then again, Germany is the reigning champion.
