The online MLS betting season continues this Thursday as Sporting KC prepares to host the Philadelphia Union. There will only be one MLS contest this Thursday, which means that most soccer fans will be wagering on this lone event. However, it’s in no way, shape or form a bad thing. Rather, accounting for the current landscape in MLS rankings, this will be one heck of a contest. But before we take a look at Thursday’s pairing, let’s run over Wednesday’s results for players who bet on soccer.
Wednesday’s Online MLS Betting Recap
Toronto FC took the limelight as Wednesday’s action began. The Canadian franchise had little difficulty picking up a 3-1 win over Orlando City. With that victory Toronto has now tied with the Chicago Fire for the lead in the Eastern Conference. Meanwhile, Orlando is sitting cozily in 5th.
The New York Red Bulls pulled out a close win over the New England Revolution 3-2. Accounting for New York’s lackluster record, that win didn’t do too much for them as they still rank 7th in the East. New England is 2 points ahead of last place DC United.
The Houston Dynamo delivered a strong 3-1 performance against Montreal. The Dynamo have now found their way to the No. 3 spot in the Western Conference while the Impact can’t seem to rise above the bottom of the East.
Vancouver picked up a much needed 3-2 win over New York FC. Vancouver is still a ways from cracking the top 3 in the West but they’ve taken a step in the right direction.
The last contest of the night pitted the Chicago Fire against the Portland Timbers. Both teams could’ve used a win but ended up delivering a contentious 2-2 finish.
As previously stated, online MLS betting fans will only have one contest to choose from this Thursday. Let’s see what the sportsbook odds are predicting for this lone matchup.
MLS – Philadelphia Union vs. Sporting KC – Thursday, July 7th

Sportsbook Odds:

Sporting KC -1 (+114) 2 ½ (EV) -154
Philadelphia Union/Sporting KC Draw +309
Philadelphia Union
The Union comes into this matchup sporting a disappointing record 6-4-7. Philadelphia has competed in 17 matches this season and has racked up 22 points on the year. Naturally, the Union is listed as a heavy online MLS betting underdog. Despite their unimpressive record, the Union actually comes into this match riding a 2 match winning streak. Both of those victories have been at home however, and we’ll have to see how the Union handles themselves on the road. The union’s 22 points ranks them 8th in the East, 4 points behind 7 place and 16 points behind 1st.
Sporting KC
Sporting will be looking to earn the top spot in the West this evening. Currently, KC is tied for the lead alongside FC Dallas with 31 points on the season. Sporting’s 8-7-4 contest paints them a clear favorite against a lesser team.
