Betting on CONCACAF Gold Cup – French Guiana vs. Honduras

Soccer betting sites are ready for the next round of CONCACAF Gold Cup action. Four teams will square off this Tuesday, and the results should help clarify the situation in Group A’s standings. But before we break down the day’s matches, let’s take a look at how the current group rankings look.

Gold Cup Group Standings

There a total of 12 countries competing in the Gold Cup tournament, broken up evenly into three groups. Group C is made up of Mexico, Jamaica, El Salvador and Curacao. Currently, Mexico and Jamaica are tied atop the Group with 3 points a pop.

Martinique, Panama, the United States, and Nicaragua have all been thrust into Group B.  Online sportsbooks are surprised to see Martinique lead this group with three points, thanks to their win over Nicaragua. Panama and the US are tied for second with 1 point, since they drew against each other.

Group A features Canada, Costa Rica, Honduras and French Guiana. Costa Rica is currently tied with Canada atop Group A, but both teams will face each other Tuesday. Barring a tie, we should have a clear leader after this evening’s action. Likewise, Honduras and French Guiana, who are tied at the bottom with zero points, will face each other Tuesday night. Let’s see what the sports betting lines are predicting for this contest.

French Guiana

French Guiana made their Gold Cup debut in an anticlimactic fashion: losing 4-2 to Canada in their first ever appearance in the tournament. This match will mark the third time Les Yana Dokos have faced Honduras, but lost that series with a 4-3 aggregate. The Guianese came into this tournament with high hopes, hoping to at least make the quarterfinals. So far they’re far from reaching that goal, and a loss to Honduras this Tuesday would be the final nail in the coffin.

Los Catrachos are coming off a 1-0 loss to group favorites Costa Rica in their opener this past Friday. But now Honduras has a chance to jump back into contention by picking up a win over the Guianese. The sports betting lines are backing Honduras heavily in this contest and it’ll be interesting to see how they far this evening.

This game is a must win for Honduras. With two teams already enjoying a 3-point lead, a loss would put the Hondurans in a less than favorable situation. However, Honduras might have a leg up in this match. Midfielder Boniek Garcia and forwards Alberth Elis and Romell Quioto play for the Houston Dynamo in the MLS, and since this game is played in their stadium, nearly a third of Honduras’ squad will be enjoying home field advantage.
