Premier League Odds On Aubameyang Seen Better For Arsenal FA Cup Win

Arsenal F.C. may have scored a major breakthrough in chasing Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s signature. The Gunners defeated the Blues in The Football Association Challenge Cup finals, a victory that carries dire implications. Most know that Aubameyang is a vital part of Mikel Arteta’s plans. Most see the recent triumph that may have just tilted the Premier League odds on signing the Gabon national in the Gunners favor.
No less than Aubameyang himself personally received The Football Association Challenge Cup trophy for his club on Saturday. Possibly not used to the honor, the Gabon even accidentally dropped the trophy. Aubameyang needs to get used to doing just that. It’s because the Gunners are planning to win more silverware along the way. Arteta sees more titles coming and this could be the push that may convince the 31-year-old to stay at Emirates Stadium.
Have the Premier League odds swayed to the Gunners?
Right now, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and the rest of the Gunners are savoring their triumph for now. But at some point in the coming days, the reality of it all is seeing the Gabonese signing an extension. Arsenal could have saved itself the trouble had they wrapped up the Gabon captain’s future earlier this year. There were plenty of clubs interested in his services. Since the football restart, Aubameyang’s performance lured in more serious takers. At the top of the list is FC Barcelona.
With their chances of landing Lautaro Martinez uncertain, Barca is looking at options. Aubameyang became a logical choice and the Gabon seem interested as well. This forced the Gunners to wait, now in a risky position where they could lose the 31-year-old altogether. Arteta had already scolded management for taking their sweet time in offering a contract extension. And probably as feared, they now stand to lose their captain if Blaugrana comes up with a tempting offer.
It’s all up to Aubameyang
At the end of the day, it will all be up to Aubameyang and his camp. The 31-year-old had been sending feelers of possibly staying at Emirates Stadium although that is subject to change. Aside from that, there are people who may influence his decision. And no other person is likely to do that other than his dad, Francois-Pierre Aubameyang.
It will be recalled that it was the elder Aubameyang who wanted the contract signing to be done in person. Some may call it old-fashioned but it is the best way to make things official. It was seen as a cause of delay considering it all went down during the COVID-19 pandemic. But if one is to rewind it once more, all these would have been avoided had Arsenal addressed it as early as the start of 2020.
That has cost Gunners management who now have to pray and wait. The The Football Association Challenge Cup is a factor in Aubameyang’s decision-making although anything can happen. The recent triumph has placed Arsenal on high. But the coming weeks could see their world crumbling if the Gabonese opts to play elsewhere.
