The Polish enter this year’s World Cup with the country’s greatest scorer, Robert Lewandowski, leading the charge. Lewandowski has wowed his fans by delivering 51 scored on just 91 games for Poland and he should be a frontrunner to win the Golden Boot this time around. Last we saw of Lewandowski was a poor outing at Euro 2016, but he’ll be vying for a better showing this time around. Especially considering that he’s coming off a 23-goal season for Bayern Munich. In addition to Lewandowski’s talents, Poland also enters with an eye-catching keeper in Wojciech Szczesny. Although some Polish fans have grown distaste for Szczesny after his poor match against Greece, the way he played in Italy was too good to not bring along. All in all, Poland usually struggles at international tournaments despite thriving in qualification. Well, this time around they won 8 of their 10 qualifying matches but are hoping to follow through on that in June.
Players to Watch: Robert Lewandowski (Bayern Munich), Wojciech Szczesny (Juventus), and Arkadiusz Milik (Napoli).
It’s been 16 years since the country has made the World Cup but this time around they did it rather comfortably. All in all Senegal brings in a mix of energy and experience as their squad features a mix of young and aged players alike. One of their most promising stars has to be Monaco’s Keita Balde Diao. Not only that, Senegal enters this year’s tourney with a bit of drama after being called for a handball that never happened. The bet World Cup odds are siding against Senegal in this matchup but not by much.
Players to Watch: Sadio Mane (Liverpool), Kalidou Koulibaly (Napoli), and Keita Balde Diao (Monaco).
