FIFA Confederations Cup Odds – Germany vs. Chile – Sunday, July 2nd

The FIFA Confederations Cup will be coming to a close this weekend. We’re all hoping for a thrilling conclusion that will build the hype for next year’s World Cup, the biggest event in online soccer betting. Both the 3rd place match and the finals will be held this weekend, but let’s take a look at how we got here before we break those matchups down.

Sportsbook Recap Confederations Cup

This week players who bet on soccer got to wager on the semi-final matches for the FIFA Confederations Cup. First up was Wednesday’s matchup between Portugal and Chile. Heading into that matchup, the bookies had the Portuguese pegged as the slightest of favorites over their South American counterpart.

Chile ended up putting a much stronger defensive performance than anyone could’ve anticipated. In fact, Chile was able to shut out Portugal for the entire length of the match. However, the Chileans were able to score either, forcing the match to go to penalties. But to everyone’s surprise, Chile was able to keep Portugal from finding the net, advancing to the finals 3-0.

The next online soccer betting match was between Germany and Mexico and this one was much more exciting. The Germans mounted their blitzkrieg and blew out the Mexicans 4-1. Mexico had many offensive opportunities in that contest but were never able to materialize any sort of opposition.

Accounting for these results, Portugal will now face Mexico for the third-place in the Cup tournament and Germany will square off against Chile for the championship. Let’s take a look at what online sportsbooks are predicting for these pairings.

FIFA Confederations Cup – Portugal vs. Mexico – Sunday, July 2nd

Round: Match for 3rd place

Portugal PK (-151)    3 (-114)           +127

Mexico PK (+136)     3 (-101)           +224

Portugal/Mexico Draw +267

This match is a repeat of Group A’s opener that saw Mexico and Portugal tie with 2 goals apiece. Portugal will be vying for a different result, but they’ll have to do so without Cristiano Ronaldo – who has received permission to fly back home in order to see his newborn twins for the first time. Portugal will also be without Raphael Guerreiro who is struggling with an injury.

Mexico has failed to beat Portugal in their last 4 attempts, though they did manage to tie at Kazan earlier in the tournament. However, accounting for the aforementioned absentees, the Mexicans have a legitimate online soccer betting shot this time around.

FIFA Confederations Cup – Germany vs. Chile – Sunday, July 2nd

Chile PK (+117)         2 ½ (-121)       +213

This marks the first time that either Germany or Chilehar have made it this far in the Confederations Cup tournament. Most sportsbook players believe that Chile has an illegitimate shot against Germany, but the bookmakers don’t share that sentiment. Nonetheless, Chile has been hitting their stride lately and if they can play at the same level as they did against Portugal, the Germans will have their hands full.
