New York City FC

New York City FC found a good dose of success last season and they haven’t had much trouble building on 2016’s triumphs. During the regular season, New York City managed to post a 16-9-9 record that yielded franchise 57 points on the season. That 57 point tally gave way to a 2nd place finish in the Eastern Conference, second only to Toronto FC. New York City is no stranger to success and the franchise will be looking to capitalize on the No. 2 seed they received for this year’s postseason.

In the knockout round of the 2017 MLS playoffs, NYC FC received an automatic bye due to their high-ranking seeding. Toronto FC, the Eastern Conference’s No. 1 seed, also received a 1st round bye. We’ll find out if the additional rest will aid or will cripple NYC FC this evening. The online MLS betting odds are surprisingly siding against the lower ranked team, which is not what we usually see in the postseason. Apparently bookmakers think the added rest has weakened New York City.

Columbus Crew

Coming off an extremely disappointing season in 2016, the Crew was able to turn the bad times around and have delivered a very respectable run this season, considering that they are on the verge of vying for a league title. In the MLS regular season, Columbus managed to post a 16-12-6 record after the full 34-game schedule, giving their franchise 54 points on the season. That tally ranked Columbus 5th in the Eastern Conference and although it wasn’t the best finish in the conference, it was still plenty good enough to open a door for Columbus’ postseason journey. The Crew earned a 5th place seed into this year’s online MLS betting playoffs and haven’t looked back since.

In the Eastern Conference’s bracket, the Crew were matched against the Atlanta United in the first leg of the postseason tournament. Being a one-match round, the Crew were able to advance to the semifinals by delivering a 3-1 finish against their playoff opponent. Now with the knockout round behind them, Columbus will be looking to prove the online sportsbook odds right this evening.
