Casemiro Wants to Leave Real Madrid; Wolves Sign Nunes in a Record Deal

Brazilian midfielder Casemiro has hinted at leaving European champions Real Madrid. Manchester United is among the top favorites in acquiring the 30-year-old soccer star. Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti confirmed the development. He says the defensive midfielder wants to try a new challenge and a new opportunity. Speaking of new opportunities, Manchester United has knocked on Casemiro’s door. According to reports, the Red Devils will pay the Brazilian EUR60 million, or USD61 million. This is in addition to a further EUR10 million (USD10 million) in add-ons. During his nine-year stint with Real Madrid, Casemiro earned three La Liga and five Champions League titles. He has formed a top-class midfield trio with Luka Modric and Toni Kroos. His desire to leave the Spanish La Liga giants was partly due to Ancelotti’s signing of Aurelian Tchouameni. The midfielder felt the new acquisition would affect his playing time at Madrid.

Slumping Man U are in Hot Pursuit

Traditional Premier League powers Manchester United are among the top suitors to secure the services of Casemiro. United need recruits after losing their first two matches against Brighton and Brentford. Lisandro Martinez, Christian Eriksen, and Tyrell Malacia are the only new guys in Erik ten Hag’s squad. This affected their start in the 2022-23 season. Casemiro’s possible transfer to Manchester United would benefit the Red Devils, who are groping for form, soccer oddsmakers covering the English Premier League said. They are up for more misery on Monday as they encounter Liverpool. Even if Casemiro and Manchester United formalize the signing this week, the defensive midfielder will not be available until the next playdate.

Matheus Nunes Signs with Wolves

Wolverhampton Wanderers have signed Portugal international Matheus Nunes from Sporting Lisbon for an initial fee of EUR45 million (USD46 million). The acquisition of the 23-year-old Brazil-born midfielder broke the Wolves’ transfer record, and he will help the English Premier League team improve their rankings for this season’s campaign. Nunes was one of the stars in Sporting Lisbon’s run in the 2020-21 season and helped the team reach the Champions League last-16 the following year. The footballer is once linked with a move to Liverpool but has joined the Wolves thanks to the club’s connections with super agent Jorge Mendes. He will possibly make his debut on Saturday at Tottenham as the Wolves look to recover from a slow start to the season.

Simeone Joins Napoli on a Season-Long Loan

Napoli has acquired Argentine forward Giovanni Simeone on a season-long loan from Verona. According to the two Italian clubs, the 27-year-old son of Atletico Madrid coach Diego Simeone has been taken by Napoli for a transfer fee of EUR12 million (USD12.2 million). The deal has the possibility of becoming permanent next summer if the forward plays well with Napoli. Simeone is coming off his most prolific season in Serie A when he tallied 17 goals for Verona last season. Napoli coach Luciano Spalletti expressed satisfaction with the team’s new acquisition, saying that Simeone is someone that the team needs. The Italian Serie A squad is also close to acquiring Sassuolo forward Giacomo Raspadori in a separate move that will boost Napoli’s stock in big-time European soccer betting odds.
