Football Soccer News and Odds | Soccer Betting

The holy trinity of soccer betting is comprised of the following three leagues: the Italian Serie A, Britain´s English Premier League, and Major League Soccer (MLS) in the United States of America. These are arguably the most important but are by no means the only ones. There is a veritable gamut of cups and competitions that will satiate your every soccer betting need. It almost goes without saying that the Granddaddy of them all is the FIFA World Cup, which is held in a different country every four years.

Types of Soccer Betting Lines Available.

When it comes to soccer betting lines, you have your two basic types; namely, the straight soccer betting money line, and three-way soccer betting odds, which is not nearly as complex as the name might suggest. Let us with the simpler one, though. In the soccer betting odds line you have two teams that will play one another; for example, Real Madrid and Barcelona. Each team has a figure next to it preceded by a + or – sign. The – sign identifies the favorite while the + sign indicates the underdog. If Real Madrid has a -170 next to it, that means you bet $170 to win $100. If Barcelona has a +150 next to it, that means you wager $100 to win $150.

The three-way soccer betting line is pretty much the same as the above, but as a bonus you can choose to bet on whether the game will end in a draw. If the draw odds are +170, that means you bet $100 to win $170 if the final outcome of the match is a tie.

Other than that, soccer betting odds are handicapped just like in almost any other sport in the world. In other words, the fundamentals of soccer handicapping are based on ratings, averages, winning or losing streaks, injuries to key players, home/away ratings, previous results, and so on and so forth. In addition to all of that, you also have to weigh in head to head matchups, the conditions of the pitch, the weather forecast, and many other factors that can influence a game one way or another. It is sort of a butterfly effect in which every little thing counts, down from the very first game of the regular season – and, why not, the preseason as well. That is how basic soccer handicapping and soccer betting is done.
