Wilson and Terry Agree to Multi-Year Extensions with Capitals, Ducks; Jeff Jackson Becomes Oilers CEO of Hockey Operations

Wilson and Terry agree to multi-year extensions with Capitals, Ducks Jeff Jackson becomes Oilers CEO of hockey operations

Wilson and Terry Agree to Multi-Year Extensions with Capitals: Tom Wilson and Troy Terry will stay with their teams for a longer period of time as the two agreed to multi-year extensions with the Washington Capitals and Anaheim Ducks, respectively. Wilson and Terry have provided significant contributions with their teams and they have proven their worth to deserve their new contracts. The developments will help Washington and Anaheim in their future NHL campaigns and improve their chances in the online sports betting scene. Apart from player extensions, the Edmonton Oilers hired Jeff Jackson, the longtime of agent of key player Connor McDavid, as chief executive officer of hockey operations. The deal is expected to help the Oilers achieve long-term success as Jackson brings leadership and industry knowledge that the club needs to become successful in the future. The hiring of Jackson is seen as a way to help convince McDavid to stay with the Oilers for a long period of time.

Wilson and Terry Agree to Multi-Year Extensions with Capitals: Capitals Sign Wilson to 7-year, US$45.5-Million Extension

The Washington Capitals have kept veteran forward Tom Wilson from becoming a free agent next year after the club signed the 29-year-old to a seven-year, US$45.5-million extension. The new contract, which will kick in for the 2024-25 season, will have Wilson playing for the Capitals through 2031. Team general manager Brian MacLellan said that the contract extension is a testament of his work ethic and leadership. MacLellan expressed hope the new deal will motivate Wilson to continue improving and help the team return to the Stanley Cup. The 6-foot-4, 220-pound winger began his NHL career with the Capitals in the 2012-13. He has 325 points in 763 regular-season and playoff games, including a career-best 52 in 2021-22. Wilson also shone in Washington’s 2018 playoff surge, scoring 15 points in 21 games.

Wilson’s new deal is longer than captain Alex Ovechkin. The Toronto native is the only player on the Capitals roster signed past 2030. It allows the fan favorite to become the new face of the franchise and become the team captain once Ovechkin retires. He has moved on from his anterior cruciate ligament injury in his left knee and he is expected to help Washington return to the playoffs after their eight-year run were halted last season. His current contract is worth just under US$5.2 million yearly.

Ducks Reward All-Star Forward Terry to US$49-Million Extension

The Anaheim Ducks rewarded All-Star forward Troy Terry’s efforts over the past two seasons as the squad signed him to a seven-year, US$49-million contract extension. The development allows the Ducks to keep the 25-year-old forward until the 2029-30 season. It also keeps both sides out of arbitration. Terry played 274 games with the Ducks and scored 75 goals and 101 assists and he has been the bright spot for one of the worst clubs in the league.

The fifth-round selection of the 2015 draft played brilliantly over the past two seasons and that allowed him to be selected in the last two All-Star games. Last season, Terry registered 23 goals and 38 assists in 70 games. He posted a career-high 67 points in the 2021-22 season, which was highlighted by a 16-game points streak.

Defenseman Kevin Bahl Re-Signs with Devils

Defenseman Kevin Bahl has re-signed with the New Jersey Devils. Bahl will earn US$2.1 million for the next two years with the 23-year-old earning US$900,000 for the 2023-24 season and US$1.2 million in 2024-25. In the recently-concluded season, Bahl played a career-high 42 games and finished with two goals and six assists. He ranked second in hits per 60 minutes among all New Jersey defensemen who played in more than 10 games (6.52).

Bahl appeared in 11 of the team’s 12 playoff games and averaged 13 minutes and 31 seconds in time on ice. Bahl was acquired by the Devils from Arizona in December 2019 in a trade that sent Taylor Hall to the Coyotes. He debuted against Philadelphia late in the 2020-21 season and played for the Devils’ American Hockey League affiliates at Binghamton and Utica.

Jeff Jackson Hired as Edmonton Oilers Hockey Operations Chief

Jeff Jackson was chosen as the new Edmonton Oilers’ hockey operations chief executive officer which is expected to boost the team’s success in the long term. Jackson will directly report with owner Daryl Katz and work with Oilers’ hockey operations president Ken Holland. Jackson was the longtime agent of Oilers main player and reigning Most Valuable Player Connor McDavid. Katz said that the promotion was a commitment to the team’s long-term success. He added that Jackson will bring industry insight, knowledge and leadership to the Oilers organization. McDavid hailed the hiring, saying that he looks forward to working with his former agent and is excited about the future with Jackson on the reins.

Following Jackson’s new job, Judd Moldaver, executive vice-president of Wasserman Hockey, will now serve as McDavid’s agent. Moldaver also represents Toronto Maple Leafs star and 2022 MVP Auston Matthews. Hiring Jackson is expected to give Oilers a new voice in hockey operations. His experience as an agent will help the team’s moves moving forward as it hopes to build a formidable team with McDavid spearheading the charge. The development hopes to bring the Oilers back among the top teams in the NHL and become more relevant among online hockey picks and parlays and various betting sites around the world.
