Washington Capitals vs Buffalo Sabres 03/09/2020 – The Washington Capitals will end their three-game road trip on Monday looking to post back to back victories when they visit the Buffalo Sabres. The Capitals cruised past the Pittsburgh Penguins on Saturday as they came out looking for blood following a heartbreaker in New York on Friday, whereas the Sabres are on the hunt for pieces in the puzzle that tests their consistency since the trade deadline. Battling away from their home ice has been a strong suit for the Capitals this season. The latest NHL Odds affirm their status on the road, tagging them as favorites for Monday’s clash at -165 to win while Buffalo are underdogs at +145.

Washington Capitals

Washington Capitals stole the show in Pittsburgh on Saturday by virtue of a convincing 5-2 triumph. T.J. Oshie was responsible for two points in the victory that kept Washington in the first place of the Metropolitan Division along with the Philadelphia Flyers who continue to be on a roll. With 23 wins in the 35 games on the road, Washington will not settle for anything less in their last game before heading back home to play the league-worst Detroit Red Wings on Thursday.

Players to watch: John Carlson (GP 67, G 15, A 60, PTS 75), Alex Ovechkin (GP 66, G 47, A 18, PTS 65), Jakub Vrana (GP 67, G 25, A 26, PTS 51).

Buffalo Sabres

The Sabres are in the midst of a six-game losing skid that is the longest so far in the NHL. “We haven’t earned the puck luck of late and again, so many things to take with for the Washington game, but we need to get some fruits from all this labor,” Sabres coach Ralph Krueger told reporters following his team’s 3-1 loss to the Flyers on Saturday. Jack Eichel continues to struggle offensively as he could not break out of a slump that runs at a career-worst seven games now. Jeff Skinner was tapped to man the top line for the Sabres as an adjustment to pick up the slack for his sagging squad. His presence, however, was hardly felt as Buffalo plunges to the sixth spot in the Atlantic while being way behind for the last wildcard spot in the East.

Players to watch: Jack Eichel (GP 67, G 35, A 42, PTS 77), Sam Reinhart (GP 68, G 22, A 28, PTS 50), Victor Olofsson (GP 53, G 19,  A 22, PTS 41).

Capitals vs Sabres Betting Picks

The Capitals have been vicious on the road this season that a stumbling Sabres in Buffalo would simply be an easy target for them to pounce on. Washington will go for the jugular as it sends Buffalo reeling to its seventh consecutive setback.
