Vegas Golden Knights

Along with the Colorado Avalanche, the Vegas Golden Knights have been reigning supreme over the NHL as two top teams in the West record the longest streaks so far in the league. The Golden Knights’ ability to match the surge from the Avalanche enabled them to keep their place at the top of the division with still three points separating the teams, 43-40, after the first half of the modified season. Max Pacioretty, who leads Vegas with 16 goals, accounted for two in the last game while goaltender Robin Lehner made a resounding return from more than a two-month absence by making 23 saves. But both players refused to take individual credits, saying it was their total team effort that brought them success last game.

Players to watch: M. Stone RW (G 10, A 25, PTS 35), M. Pacioretty LW (G 16, A 14, PTS 30), S. Theodore D (G 5, A 18, PTS 23).

Los Angeles Kings

It was not the best way to start the second half of the 56-game Regular Season for the Kings. Not only did the recent loss keep them from stepping ahead of the race, but letting it happen at home could be a telling factor in the team’s trust moving forward. It was a frustrating loss for L.A. and the team could only lament how they allowed themselves to be on the trailing side the last timeout. After Vegas raced to an early 2-0 lead start, Alex Iafallo and Trevor Moore put the game back to square one, but the amount of effort needed to complete the comeback was enough as the visitors still got the victory in the end. Coach Todd McLellan called it another moral victory for them, but he was not actually pleased about it given that it does not count in the actual tally. With that said, Kings fans can expect their team to start strong in hopes to avoid getting swept at home.

Players to watch: A. Kopitar C (G 8, A 27, PTS 35), D. Doughty D (G 7, A 18, PTS 25), D. Brown RW (G 13, A 6, PTS 19).
