Senators Vie For a 3-game Online NHL Betting Lead

This year’s online NHL betting postseason is living up to fans’ expectations: a riveting fight between the greatest hockey players in the world. The biggest headline we’ve come across so far involves the reigning Stanley Cup Champions’ plight to win back-to-back titles. Pittsburgh hasn’t had any difficulty advancing in this year’s postseason, and through 8 contests the Penguins have only conceded 2 losses. Unfortunately, sportsbook players who bet on NHL playoffs won’t be able to watch the Penguins this Tuesday evening. However, fans can still use this opportunity to size up the other playoff contenders to try and figure out which team poses the biggest threat to Pittsburgh.

Latest Online NHL Betting News & Predictions

Specifically, fans can tune in to two different matchups this Tuesday night. The Ottawa Senators and New York Rangers will settle their differences first, followed by a Southern-clash between the St. Louis Blues and the Nashville Predators. Both contests should prove to be immensely interesting, but since the Rangers are staring down a 2-0 deficit, the Senators-Rangers contest is one you don’t want to miss.

Game 3 – Ottawa Senators vs. New York Rangers – Tuesday, May 2nd

When: 7:00 pm ET

Where: Madison Square Garden, Manhattan, New York

TV: NBC

Series: Senators Lead 2-0

Hockey Playoff Odds:

Ottawa Senators        +1 ½ (-240)     –           +145

New York Rangers   -1 ½ (+200)     –           -165

Ottawa Senators

Coming off a season in which they failed to qualify for the postseason, the Senators are more than happy that they’ve made it to the second round, and that they own a 2-game lead in the series thus far. Overall, the Senators should feel proud of their regular season performance as well. Ottawa was able to turn in an impressive 44-28-10 that led the way to a 2nd place finish in the Atlantic Division and a 6th place finish in the Eastern Conference.

The Senators had to face the Boston Bruins in the opening round of this year’s playoffs. Boston was an elite team all regular season long and that certainly didn’t stop once the postseason rolled around. Nonetheless, the Senators only dropped 2 to the Bruins.

Ottawa has been even better against the Rangers, considering they’ve won the first two games and have outscored the Rangers 8-6 so far in the series.

New York Rangers

The Rangers enjoyed a good dose of online NHL betting success this year, delivering a 48-28-6 record that led to a 4th place finish in the Metropolitan Division and a 5th place finish in the Eastern Conference.

In the first round of this year’s playoffs, the Rangers faced off against the Montreal Canadiens. Ultimately, the Rangers advanced past Montreal, only dropping 2-games to their Canadian rivals.

New York is starting to feel the heat in the second round. A 2-game deficit brings them closer to elimination than to the third round. The Rangers will need a stronger performance on defense if they want to hand Ottawa their first loss of the series.
