Predators NHL Sports Betting Favorites to Win Game 6

The Stanley Cup series is headed to Game 6. After the Predators put on a dominant performance in Games 3 & 4, Nashville fell apart in Game 5, suffering a huge NHL sports betting loss. Now the series heads back to Nashville where the Predators are likely to enter as the hockey playoff odds favorite. Let’s recap Game 5’s one-sided action before breaking down Game 6.
NHL Sports Betting Looks at Game 5
One of the biggest headlines that came out of Games 3 & 4 was Pekka Rinne’s comeback. Rinne had suffered a rather lackluster performance in Games 1 & 2, getting pulled early in both contests. In fact, the Predators’ goalie’s performance was so unexceptional that were begging for Peter Laviolette – Nashville’s head coach, to pull Rinne.
However, Laviolette remained poised and stated that he felt confident in his team’s goalkeeper. After all, Rinne played a pivotal role in Nashville’s NHL sports betting playoff push. Laviolette’s decision to keep Rinne as the starter paid off, as the Finnish player was able to stop everything that Pittsburgh threw at him in Nashville.
Nevertheless, Game 5 proved that this series is best described as a tale of two Rinnes. The Rinne we see in Pittsburgh is quite incapable of stopping Pittsburgh, evident by the 3-goals the keeper allotted in the first quarter of Game 5. Unfortunately for Nashville, Rinne’s replacement didn’t have an answer for the Penguins either.
In the end, Pittsburgh ended up shutting out the Preds in Game 5, 6-0. This raises questions for the rest of the series. It’s understandable that the Penguins offense would go off in Pittsburgh, but that still doesn’t excuse Nashville’s inability to find the net once.
The Predators will likely pull out a win this Sunday in Nashville, since they had no problem winning before. The real issue will be in Game 7, which will of course be played in Pittsburgh. With this in mind, it doesn’t really matter if the Preds pull a win this weekend, since the Penguins will be the favorites to close out the series in Game 7. Either way, let’s take a look at the best online sportsbooks are predicting for Game 6.
Game 6 – Pittsburgh Penguins vs. Nashville Predators – Sunday, June 11th
When: 8:00 pm ET
Where: Bridgestone Arena, Nashville
Series: Penguins Lead 3-2
Stream: NBC Sports
Hockey Playoff Odds:
Pittsburgh Penguins +1 ½ (-255) 5 ½ (+110) +120
Nashville Predators -1 ½ (+215) 5 ½ (-130) -140
Pittsburgh is now on the cusp of making history. The NHL hasn’t seen a back-to-back Stanley Cup champion since 1998. No doubt the Penguins are worthy of breaking that drought, but it is doubtful that they’ll get it done in Nashville.
The Predators should feel fairly confident about picking up Game 5. So far, Nashville has outscored Pittsburgh 9-2 on home turf. The Predators will be looking to build on that staggering lead this Sunday.
