Penguins Online NHL Betting Favorites over Vancouver

The reigning online NHL betting champions entered the season with one goal on their mind. To accomplish what many sportsbook fans perceive to be impossible by winning back-to-back Stanley Cup champions.
Before the season began, the odds didn’t think that the Pittsburgh Penguins could accomplish said feat. In fact, the ‘Guins had the third best odds of the NHL at best. But now that we’re well past the season’s halfway point, it is more than evident that Pittsburgh has a legitimate shot at going all the way.
After competing in 54 games, the Penguins have been able to amass a 34-13-7 record that yields the club 75 points. Those points are enough to tie the reigning champions with both the Columbus Blue Jackets and the New York Rangers for second in the Metropolitan. With less than 30 games left on the schedule, it seems like the Penguins making the playoffs is a sportsbook certainty.
Granted, a three-way tie atop the Metropolitan isn’t a guarantor of Pittsburgh’s playoff berth. But even in the case that the Penguins fail to rank in the top-three, Pittsburgh still has a very good chance of clinching one of the Wild Card berths from East. The Canadiens currently lead the Atlantic, the other division that constitutes the Eastern Conference, with just 70 points. If that’s enough to lead the Atlantic Division, whatever the Penguins have by the end of the season should be good enough to earn them a ticket to the postseason.
Tuesday’s round of online NHL betting action will feature the Penguins play host to the Vancouver Canucks at the PPG Paints Arena. The Canucks rank penultimate in the Pacific Division and those who bet on hockey lines will likely expect them to come into this contest as the underdog. Either way, let’s check the odds to see what the sportsbooks are predicting.
ONLINE NHL BETTING ODDS– Tuesday, February 14th
Pittsburgh Penguins -1½ (+115) 5½ (-110) -255
Vancouver Canucks +1½ (-135) 5½ (-110) +215
Unsurprisingly, the Penguins have indeed been pegged the online NHL betting favorites. But considering Pittsburgh’s recent slip-ups, favoritism by the bookies won’t be all the Penguins need to pick up the victory. The reigning Stanley Cup champions have allotted two losses in their last 5 games and giving up a huge upset on a home court will certainly hurt their reputation.
The Canucks have struggled their way to a 25-25-6 record that puts them right near the bottom of the Pacific Division. Vancouver’s 56 points aren’t the fewest by an NHL team, but they are still a blatant reminder that this season has certainly veered off course. The Canucks have lost 5 out of their last 7 and the Penguins will be looking to add another bitter loss to that streak. This contest will mark the first time these two teams have met each other.
