The 2017 NHL game betting season keeps rolling on as teams are vying to create some separation in the divisional race. This Wednesday night, sports betting online fanatics can take a jab at three different NHL matchups; the Red Wings hosting the Calgary Flames, the New York Rangers traveling to Chicago to take on the Blackhawks, and the Boston Bruins taking on the Anaheim Ducks on the road. Since the matchup between the Rangers and the Blackhawks will be nationally broadcast, let’s break down what the hockey betting odds are predicting for this evening’s rivalry.
New York Rangers vs. Chicago Blackhawks – Wednesday, November 15th
When: 8:00 pm ET
Where: United Center
Stream: NBC Sports, NHL TV
NHL Game Betting Lines:
New York Rangers +1 ½ (-260) 6 (EV) +110
Chicago Blackhawks -1 ½ (+220) 6 (-120) -130
New York Rangers
The Rangers slide into this Wednesday night contest sporting a 9-7-2 record that ranks them 5th in the Metropolitan Division with a total of 20 points on the year. The New Jersey Devils currently lead the Met with a total of 24 points, so New York is still very much in contention for the lead in the division despite having an extremely rocky start to the 2017 season. In the month of October, the Rangers posted a 4-9 record that left fans pulling their hair out of their head. But so far in November, the club has won 5 in a row without conceding a single loss on the month. That still hasn’t been enough to convince the NHL game betting lines to favor New York over Chicago, despite the fact that the Blackhawks haven’t been having the greatest of seasons either. The Rangers last stepped on the ice to face the Edmonton Oilers this past Saturday in a 4-2 triumph. Two of New York’s wins this month have come in overtime while the other three have been decided by two goals. A win against the Blackhawks this evening would certainly help the Rangers climb the divisional rankings and prove that this team has turned things around.
The Blackhawks march into tonight’s contest with an 8-8-2 record that grants Chicago 18 points on the year. With that tally, the Hawks are tied with Minnesota for 6th in the Central Division. Things are looking bleak for Chicago considering that the St. Louis Blues lead the division with 27 points on the year and the Nashville Predators are 3rd with 22 points. The Blackhawks would need t o string together a series of impressive wins to enter postseason contention but that’s unlikely considering the franchise hasn’t won more than two in a row all season long. Chicago is coming off a 7-5 loss to the New Jersey Devils that marked the club’s 3rd on the month. So far they’re 3-3 in November but it seems more likely that they’ll fall below .500 this evening, especially against a team as hot as the Rangers are at the moment.
