Montreal Canadiens vs Vegas Golden Knights 01/20/2022 – The Vegas Golden Knights have been a formidable force in the NHL this season – except perhaps at home. Still the No.1 team in the Pacific Division despite the setbacks at the T-Mobile Arena, the Golden Knights will try to end their eight-game homestand with a crucial win as they host the Montreal Canadiens on Thursday night. Unlike Vegas, the visitors are on the total opposite side of the division race, placed at the last spot in the Atlantic. The Canadiens will enter the game as +284 underdogs in the match-winner market based on the latest NHL Odds. The match will begin at 10:00 PM Eastern Time with live coverage on ESPN+ and NHL.TV.

Montreal Canadiens

At this point of the season, it is as if the Canadiens are already playing without any pressure on their shoulders. With losses after losses, it has seemed that contending is not for Montreal to pursue this year. The Canadiens are already at the tail end of their road trip which started all the way to December 28 of last year. The team has lost the first six games of the trip before interestingly pulling off an upset against the Dallas Stars on Tuesday to snap the skid. The win places the Canadiens at a good position heading to Vegas to face a relatively struggling Golden Knights. As expected, Montreal is still the underdog in the matchup but it remains interesting whether the cellar dwellers can put up another stunning performance and grab another upset victory.

Players to watch: N. Suzuki C (G 7, A 14, PTS 21), J. Drouin LW (G 6, A 14, PTS 20), T. Toffoli RW (G 6, A 13, PTS 19).

Vegas Golden Knights

Ironically, the Pacific Division leaders have struggled playing inside the T-Mobile Arena where they accounted for just a 12-10-2 as compared to their 11-5-0 road record. The Golden Knights have won just once since the start of the new year with all six games played at home. Vegas will try to cap the extended home stand with a statement win against the Canadien; but while Montreal is seen to be an easy opponent on paper, skeptics remain wary given that the Golden Knights could still be feeling the frustration after its collapse against the Pittsburgh Penguins last Monday. Mark Stone admitted that his team needs a “little soul searching to do” following the series of setbacks at home. As captain, Stone knows the game against Montreal could be a crucial turning point, forcing him to preach the importance of seizing the W before hitting the road next.

Players to watch: C. Stephenson C (G 11, A 26, PTS 37), R. Smith RW (G 11, A 18, PTS 29), J. Marchessault C (G 18, A 10, PTS 28).

Canadiens vs Golden Knights Betting Picks

Enough says the Golden Knights. Vegas will not allow Montreal to pull off a stunner on Thursday night. As predicted by the top betting sites for NHL, the Golden Knights will keep the Canadiens at bay. The homestand will end with a victory for the hosts as the team regains its confidence ahead of their road trip.

Score Prediction: Canadiens 2, Golden Knights 6.
