Lightning Keep Beating the Islanders

Online NHL betting fans who favor the New York Islanders remember all too well how New York’s season came to an abrupt end in the 2015-16 playoffs. After finishing the regular season with a record of 45-27-10 record, and scoring 100 points, the Islanders finished in fourth place within the Metropolitan Division, which helped them clinch their playoff berth. Incidentally, last year’s playoff ticket marked New York’s third postseason trip in 4 years. Once they made it to the playoffs, the Islanders were charged with facing the champions of the Atlantic Division in the first round, the Florida Panthers. 6 games later New York would emerge victorious, but after the Panthers the Islanders were tasked with facing the Tampa Bay Lightning. Unfortunately, the Lightning proved to be too much for New York and the Islanders ended up losing the series in 5 games. After a defiant loss, New York was sent home and forced to prepare for the 2016-17 season. Now, the Islanders will have the opportunity to avenge their postseason mishap.

On Thursday, November 10th, the New York Islanders will be heading to the Sunshine State to square off against the Tampa Bay Lightning at the Amalie Arena. Fans looking to tune in for the Islander’s plight to avenge their postseason defeat can catch either the local broadcasts, tune in via ESPN Radio, or online through NHL TV. The puck will hit the ice at 7:30 PM EST. Since the Lightning are coming in with the better record, most hockey betting sites are going to favor Tampa Bay this Thursday. What chances do the Islanders have of successfully avenging their loss?

Right now the New York Islanders find themselves at 5-6-2, as well as in 7th place in the Metropolitan Division. Not the best start, but the Islanders still have plenty of time to turn things around. The season began with disappointment when the New York Rangers were able to beat the Islanders in the Islanders own court. New York would go on to lose their second game of the season, and that loss set the tempo for how the rest of the season would unfold. The Islanders have been picking up some wins, but against the best teams in the NHL New York hasn’t been overly competitive. When they faced the defending Stanley Cup Champions the Islanders lost 4-2. Earlier this month, the Islanders had a chance to avenge their postseason loss against the Tampa Bay Lightning. But New York failed to deliver an online NHL betting upset and succumbed to the Lightning 6-1. With that in mind it seems that the Islanders won’t have too great a chance of upsetting the Lightning this Thursday night.
