Edmonton Oilers

The Oilers will begin the first of the last two games against the Senators on Wednesday – a game that is crucial in their aim to complete a season sweep of their last-placed division rivals. Edmonton Oilers will play in Ottawa in two games in as many nights as they also look to avenge their heartbreaking 3-2 loss in OT to the Montreal Canadiens last Monday.  Coach Dave Tippett blasted his team for being too “passive,” saying their lack of aggressiveness on the offensive end has allowed the Canadiens, who are in a serious chase at the upper half of the standings, to steal the game in the extended period. Their visit to Ottawa could be ideal for the Oilers as they try to redeem their groove and start collecting a string of wins anew. A 34-15 scoring edge against the Senators this season shows how one-sided that head-to-head battle has been, and from the looks of it, it seems that Edmonton does not plan to let go of the gas pedal.

Players to watch: C. McDavid C (G 22 A 42 PTS 64), L. Draisaitl C (G 19 A 38 PTS 57), T. Barrie D (G 5 A 27 PTS 32).

Ottawa Senators

The Senators had seven times to beat the Oilers this year, and all those attempts have failed. Fortunately for them, however, the woeful record is not without a silver lining. Despite going empty against Edmonton, Ottawa has shown, at least in their meetings at the Canadian Tire Centre, that they can keep in step with their powerhouse rivals. Early in February, the team limited the Oilers to just three goals twice: a 1-3 and 2-3 finish on Feb. 9 and 10, respectively. But in order to pull off an upset against a contender like the Oilers, the Senators must not be satisfied by just limiting them in scoring; they must also step up their game offensively so they can put themselves in a favorable position that could stop Edmonton from accomplishing their mission of a sweep.

Players to watch: B. Tkachuk LW (G 12 A 11 PTS 23), D. Batherson RW (G 12 A 11 PTS 23), T. Chabot D (G 4 A 19 PTS 23).

Oilers vs Senators Betting Picks

A potential season sweep of the Senators is very much alive for the Oilers. The latter will barge a step closer to the historic goal as they are about to take the W in the first of back-to-back games in back-to-back nights in Ottawa. Sportsbooks expect a surge in bets backing Edmonton despite the short price in the NHL Betting Lines. As for favorites away from home, the Oilers will not disappoint as they continue to impose their dominance over the Senators.

Score Prediction: Oilers 4, Senators 1.
