Dallas Stars vs Saint Louis Blues 08/09/2020 – The Dallas Stars and the St. Louis Blues both have failed to hit the mark after their respective first two games inside the Western Conference bubble. As the round-robin round wraps up on Sunday, both teams will cross paths having the same objective: to capture a confidence-boosting win before entering the Stanley Cup Playoffs. The faceoff will take place inside the West bubble – Rogers Place in Edmonton – at 3:00 PM Eastern Time and will be shown live on NBC, NHL.TV and SofaScore. Although both teams have tallied the same record since the restart, the Blues are still clear-cut favorites to win the match according to the NHL Betting Lines, which set a -130 money line price on them. The Stars, meanwhile, are fixed at +106 as underdogs.

Dallas Stars

Only the final seeding for the Playoffs need to be determined, so Sunday’s clash against the Blues does not have any significant bearing unless Dallas Stars have a target opponent in sight for the first round. A win will hand them the Calgary Flames while a loss will place them at fourth in the West facing the seventh-seeded Vancouver Canucks in the bracket. Playing against the Blues has been a downright nightmare for Dallas, which has lost all but one of their five meetings in the regular season. The Stars simply could not catch a break as the struggles extend to the last stretch of the regular season. Sunday’s tilt may not affect their entry to the first round of the postseason, but Dallas would still want to break the dry spell before stepping foot into a tougher series.

Players to watch: M. Heiskanen D (G 0, A 3, PTS 3), R. Hintz LW (G 0, A 1, PTS 1), B. Comeau LW(G 0, A 1, PTS 1).

St. Louis Blues

The Blues were stunned by the Vegas Golden Knights on Thursday, 6-4, to drop their second game. They fell short in their nip and tuck clash against the Colorado Avalanche in their bubble debut and most expected them to get the job done in the ensuing assignment, but to no avail. Sunday’s game will be their last chance to avoid a winless slate in the round-robin phase but they will have to do it without Ivan Barbashev, who left the bubble for the birth of his first child and perhaps Winger Vladimir Tarasenko, who is tagged as questionable due to an undisclosed injury.

Players to watch: R. O’Reilly C (G 0, A 3, PTS 3), D. Perron LW (G 2, A 0, PTS 2), B. Schenn C (G 0, A 2, PTS 2).

Dallas Stars vs St. Louis Blues Betting Picks

The Blues will pounce on the Stars, who seem to have lost the formula to winning. Thursday’s setback has poked the inner warriors in Dallas and the team will make sure to avoid going empty in the round-robin tournament. The Stars, though, will unleash a decent challenge but it would not stop the Blues from earning the third seed before the Playoffs.

Score Prediction: Stars 2, Blues 3.
