Columbus Blue Jackets vs Chicago Blackhawks 01/29/2021 Spread, Game Analysis and Tips

Columbus Blue Jackets vs Chicago Blackhawks 01/29/2021 – The Chicago Blackhawks love playing at home. Following two consecutive losses in Nashville, the Blackhawks seek to recuperate at the United Center where they have scored their only two wins of the season so far after eight games. The Columbus Blue Jackets, who outlasted the Florida Panthers on Thursday, will then travel to Illinois the next day to challenge the Blackhawks for the first of back-to-back matches in the Central Division. The win against the Panthers enabled Columbus to snatch the division lead in the standings with a 3-2-2 record for nine points whilst the Blackhawks post seven points to sit at sixth place. Despite that, the NHL Betting Lines still see a completely even matchup as both teams are offered at -110 in the match winner market. The game starts at 08:00 PM Eastern Time and will be shown live at NSCH and NHL.tv.

Columbus Blue Jackets

The revenge game against the Panthers on Thursday could not be any bigger for the Columbus Blue Jackets as it also gave them an early lead over the rest in the Central Division. But while their spirits are up, it could not be denied that they are physically exhausted as well, especially after playing four extra-time matches over their last five outings. They will face the Blackhawks in another road game without the benefit of any day off. Fatigue could very well spoil their game plan and it might just be what the Blackhawks would need to nab the game. Blue Jackets coach John Tortorella admitted that the last win earned them a morale boost and that the team will not take it for granted. However, he is still asking for more consistency. There are still lots of games to be played in the NHL Regular Season; hence, there should not be much room for an early celebration. Tortorella expects his team to come out with the same intensity and fire as they try to steal another win away from Ohio.

Players to watch: A. Texier C (G 4, A 2, PTS 6), O. Bjorkstrand RW (G 2, A 4, PTS 6), B. Jenner C (G 2, A 3, PTS 5).

Chicago Blackhawks

For some reason, the Blackhawks are still clinging to the home-court advantage despite the absence of fans inside their arena. Chicago has dropped all of its assignments on the road so far, and that if not for their short schedule at the United Center last week, they would still be winless until now. Call it a road curse, or a mere coincidence, but the Blackhawks would not deny that stepping on their home ice gives them an instant shot in the arm that makes them a more dangerous team to face. It has been an early roller coaster ride, to say the least for Chicago as they are still on the hunt for the solution to their shaky performances. They looked poised on building a momentous winning streak after their back-to-back wins at home, but it was immediately thrashed by yet another pair of losses served by Nashville. But now that they are back to where they know they are lethal, then they may just establish the string of wins that they are aiming for.

Players to watch: P. Kane RW (G 3, A 4, PTS 7), A. DeBrincat LW (G 2, A 4, PTS 6), D. Keith D (G 0, A 5, PTS 5).

Columbus Blue Jackets vs Chicago Blackhawks Betting Picks

It will be a tight battle on ice between the Blue Jackets and the Blackhawks. Both teams will be on attack mode right off the bat, but in the end, the current Central Division leaders will prevail, in the process breaking the Blackhawks’ winning trend at home. The excitement will turn into agony with another setback about to add to Chicago’s early misery. On the flip side, the win could signal the beginning of Columbus’ search for consistency.
