The NHL sports betting playoffs are starting to take shape. In tonight’s Washington Capitals vs. Pittsburgh Penguins matchup, the Guins will be vying for a 3-peat. On the other hand, the Caps will be looking to knock off those titans. What kind of matchup will the teaser sports betting odds paint?
Washington Capitals vs. Pittsburgh Penguins – Thursday, May 3rd
Series: Game 4 || Washington Leads 2-1
When: 7:00 pm ET
Where: PPG Paints Arena, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
Stream: NBC Extra, NHL TV
NHL Sports Betting Odds:
The Washington Capitals turned in a highly successful 49-26-7 record to win the Metropolitan Division. Although they found great success during the regular season, the Caps struggled once the postseason kicked off. Specifically, Washington conceded two straight losses to the Columbus Blue Jackets in the opening round of the playoffs. Nevertheless, the Capitals rebounded by winning the next four consecutively. Now, having taken a 2-1 lead in the series versus the reigning champs, the Caps are feeling pretty good about themselves. Especially since they were able to beat Pittsburgh on the road in Game 3. But since it was by no means an easy win, Washington knows they have their work cut out for them this evening.
Players to Watch: Alex Ovechkin (8 G, 5 A, 13 PTS), Nicklas Backstrom (3 G, 9 A, 12 PTS), and John Carlson (2 G, 8 A, 10 PTS).
The Penguins are looking to win their third consecutive Stanley Cup title. Obviously this is easier said than done and Pittsburgh has been dealing with adversity every step of the way. In the opening round of the 2018 playoffs, the Guins were able to get the best of the Philadelphia Flyers 4-2. The real kicker was Game 2 of the series versus Washington, where the Caps handed the Penguins a 4-1 beating. Granted, one game isn’t much to get up in arms about. But, Washington has shown that they can manhandle the Penguins on the ice. Can we expect that this evening?
Players to Watch: Jake Guentzel (8 G, 11 A, 19 PTS), Sidney Crosby (8 G, 9 A, 17 PTS), and Kris Letang (2 G, 7 A, 9 PTS).
