Wednesday’s matchup will mark Game 3 of the NHL’s Eastern Conference Finals. With the Senators taking Game 1, and the Penguins bouncing back in Game 2, the series is currently tied and more than living up to people’s expectations.
In their franchise’s history, the Senators have only managed to make a single Stanley Cup appearance, back in 2007. Unfortunately, the Anaheim Ducks proved to be too much for Ottawa, defeating the Senators in 5 games (4-1). Obviously, everyone is used to seeing the Penguins either winning the Cup or at least coming close. However, despite the fact that we’d all love to see the Senators get their second online NHL betting shot at the Stanley Cup, the Penguins have the opportunity to do something that hasn’t been accomplished in nearly a quarter-century: winning back-to-back Stanley Cups.
Game 3 – Pittsburgh Penguins vs. Ottawa Senators – Wed., May 17th
When: 8:00 pm ET
Where: Canadian Tire Centre, Ottawa
Stream: NBC Sports
Series: Tied 1-1
Hockey Playoff Odds:
Pittsburgh Penguins -1 ½ (+225) 5 (-130) -135
Ottawa Senators +1 ½ (-265) 5 (+110) +115
Even though the Penguins are one of the most successful franchises in recent years, it is still surprising to see Pittsburgh on the verge of winning back-to-back titles. They’ll still have to overcome the Senators, a team that beat them twice in the regular season. But despite that fact, hockey betting sites have still decided to come out in favor of the Penguins. In addition to this series being tied at 1-1, both Ottawa and Pittsburgh have both scored 2 goals in the series thus far. Another glaring example of just how tight these Conference Finals are.
Coming off a season that saw Ottawa miss out on the postseason, the Senators have done more than just turn things around. On the verge of competing for the Stanley Cup, Ottawa fans are ecstatic to see the Senators accomplish something so seldom. The fact that the Senators are facing the Penguins only makes things more enticing for Ottawa fans. If the Senators are able to knock off an NHL powerhouse, and reigning champions, on their way to the franchise’s first Stanley Cup, the whole world will have to take note of such a grandiose accomplishment.
