Thursday Night Preps for NFC West Football Betting Rivalry
Posted by: Anthony Yaylor
The 2017 football betting season returns this Thursday, with an enticing NFC West matchup between the Seattle Seahawks and the Arizona Cardinals. Last week’s Thursday Night Football matchup wasn’t the most thrilling we’ve seen and judging by how the Cardinals’ and Seahawks’ 2017 season is shaping up, this should be somewhat of an improvement. Both the Hawks and Cards will be looking to catch up with the division leading Los Angeles Rams this Thursday night, but only one will prevail. Let’s take a look at who the best online sportsbooks believe that one will be.
Seattle Seahawks vs. Arizona Cardinals – Thursday, November 9th
When: 8:25 pm ET
Where: University of Phoenix Stadium, Glendale, Arizona
Stream: CBS Sports, NFL Game Pass
Football Betting Lines:
Seattle Seahawks -6 (-104) 41 ½ (-110)
Arizona Cardinals +6 (-116) 41 ½ (-110)
The Seahawks fly into this Week 10 matchup flashing a 5-3 record that ranks Seattle as the 2nd best team in the NFC West. The Hawks have quite a bit of work laid out for them if they are to catch up to the 6-2 Rams, but anyone who’s taken a long look at Seattle’s defense knows that they have more than what is required to get the job done. For the first half of the season, it was the Seahawks’ struggling offense that held this franchise back. However, after putting up 46 against the struggling Indianapolis Colts earlier this season, it seems that Seattle’s offense has finally found their groove. They’ve been better, that much is clear. Nonetheless, when they were needed this past weekend to pick up a win over the Washington Redskins, the Seahawks’ offense simply could not find the end zone, ultimately losing 17-14 to Washington. That loss snapped a 4 game win streak the club had built up and if there’s anything that needs to be taken away from this L it’s that the Hawks offense still has room to improve.
The Cardinals march into this NFC West rivalry sporting a 4-4 record that ranks the franchise 3rd in the NFC West. Arizona didn’t enter this year’s football betting season as the NFL betting favorite in the division, but most players felt like the Cards could at the very least compete in the West. So far this season, the Cardinals have been inconsistent at best and downright awful at worst. Two of Arizona’s wins on the season come against the San Francisco 49ers. We haven’t seen yet what the Niners can accomplish with Jimmy Garoppolo – the franchise’s newest addition. However, seems those wins came before Jimmy G’s tenure with San Fran, it’s safe to say that they don’t amount to much. The other two wins of the season come against the Colts and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, which aren’t very impressive either. The Cards have been contending without starting quarterback Carson Palmer these last couple of weeks but to be fair, we still don’t know what to expect from them. The Cardinals game plan this past weekend was to stick with the running game and considering that they gained 167 through the turf, it’s safe to say the plan worked. But they’ll be going up against a much better defense this weekend so we’ll have to see just how much they can get done.
