Terrelle Pryor NFL Future May Be In New England Or Pittsburgh
Posted by: Hilbert Mayer
Terrelle Pryor has been out of NFL action for over a year now. However, the 31-year-old wide receiver reveals he has been approached by several teams. But his NFL future could be down to two teams. The New England Patriots and the Pittsburgh Steelers appear to interest him and he reveals the reasons why.
On one end is New England. Pryor admits that the thought of playing with Cam Newton interests him. It turns out that the free-agent receiver is a big fan of Newton. This has sent out signals that the third-round pick of the 2011 NFL Draft may seriously consider the Pats. New England has held discussions with his camp although getting anything done may take some time. With the COVID-19 pandemic still far from contained, most NFL teams are lying low. Regardless, the Pats remain one of the favorites to land his services.
Could Terrelle Pryor NFL future be waiting in Pittsburgh?
If a deal with New England Patriots fails to materialize, the 6-foot-4 player is also interested in a move to Pittsburgh. Pryor is likewise intrigued by the thought of playing with Ben Roethlisberger, another established quarterback. Aside from that, joining the Steelers would allow him to play for his hometown. Like his case with the Pats, this is something that remains up in the air. The coronavirus needs to be checked before any discussions can push through.
Pryor picking up the pieces
It has been a forgettable year for Pryor who has been dealing with injuries and off-field issues. He was last connected with the Jacksonville Jaguars but never got to play. A hamstring injury forced him into the sidelines and was eventually released. After almost a year of waiting, Pryor is hoping that the time off will help him return to pro football.
Aside from his injury woes, Pryor also dealt with some domestic problems. He got stabbed last November by a woman said to be his partner. Shalaya Briston and Pryor were charged for the incident and all has been quiet ever since.
Does it make sense to join Pats?
Terrelle Pryor is toying with the idea of possibly playing alongside if he chooses New England. However, he may need to factor something as well. Newton’s former team, the Carolina Panthers gave up on the 2015 NFL MVP since he struggled to keep himself healthy. Proof of that is the Newton was only able to play a couple of games last season. The Pats took a chance on him but his length of stay in New England will depend on how well he stays healthy. Hence before deciding, it may be best for him to consider that as well.
But if Newton manages to stay healthy, the Patriots will be a team to watch. Pryor likely knows what the 31-year-old quarterback can do, particularly back in 2015. Newton knows he has his work cut out for him as he tries to pick up from Tom Brady. If Pryor can do the same and recall his form back in 2016, New England will be a team to watch.
