The Titans enter this weekend’s action sporting a 1-1 record. So far this season, the Titans have struggled to build up any sort of momentum. Marcus Mariota has been out for most of the season, having only attempted 16 passes this year. Blaine Gabbert is filling in for Mariota but has been underwhelming so far. Testament to this is his pitiful 70.9 quarterback rating. Furthermore, the running game hasn’t really been there to help out the backup. So far Tennessee has racked up 216 rushing yards equaling out to 3.4 yards per attempt. That’s not that impressive and it won’t be enough to help Gabbert beat the Jags. And since Jacksonville is only giving up 98 rushing yards per game, the pressure will be on Gabbert this Sunday to pull off the upset.
Players to Watch: Blaine Gabbert (234 passing yards, 1 TD, 1 INT), Dion Lewis (117 rushing yards, 1 TD, 0 F), and Corey Davis (117 receiving yards, 0 TD, 11 REC).
The Jags have been extremely impressive this year. Although they didn’t turn too many heads in their opener against the Giants, the opposite is true for this past weekend’s results. Facing New England in Week 2, most sportsbook bettors had Tom Brady coming out top. Nevertheless, thanks to a dominant defensive effort, and one heck of a performance from Blake Bortles, Jacksonville came out on top 31-20. It’s important to make a dichotomy here. It’s one thing to beat the Pats in September and it’s an entirely different challenge to beat them in December. Not to take anything away from Jacksonville, but Bortles is far too inconsistent to peg this team as Super Bowl bound. They will however, be a shoo-in for the postseason.
Players to Watch: Blake Bortles (552 passing yards, 5 TD, 2 INT), TJ Yeldon (109 rushing yards, 0 TD, 0 F), and Keelan Cole (170 receiving yards, 1 TD, 10 REC).
