New England Patriots

This year’s Super Bowl LIII betting odds are pegging the Pats as slight favorites over the Rams. This isn’t all that shocking, given how much Super Bowl experience the Pats bring to the table. At the end of the day, Tom Brady has been in more Super Bowls than over 90% of the entire NFL. On top of that, the Pats have been enjoying more offensive success in the postseason. This shows that despite the fact that the Rams may be younger and more talented, they still have a hard time matching New England’s execution. Jared Goff might be a tremendously talented quarterback for the Rams, but has he been exposed to the amount of situations that the 41-year old Brady has been?

You have to account for the muscle memory and experience this aging veteran brings to the table. Right now the Pats are scoring 39.0 points per game this postseason. The Rams on the other hand, are putting up 28.0 – over ten points less. This unequivocally demonstrates that experience is more reliable than talent. We saw the vast lengths the Eagles had to go to in order to defeat the Pats in the Super Bowl. Needless to say the Rams will have to go even further.

Players to Watch: Tom Brady (691 passing yards, 2 TD, 2 INT), Sony Michel (242 rushing yards, 5 TD, 0 F), and Julian Edelman (247 receiving yards, 0 TD, 16 REC).

Los Angeles Rams

The Rams are the hottest team in the NFL. Leave it to the Rams to ditch St. Louis and immediately adopt a flashy play style that accentuates their new city. At the end of the day the Rams can beat you through the air and on the ground. And the last team the Rams faced in the Super Bowl? Just so happens to be the New England Patriots. That matchup saw Brady win his 1st Super Bowl and now Rams fans are hoping for a little bit of revenge. Defensively the Pats are a decent team but didn’t rank in the top half of the league during the regular season. They gave up over a hundred yards per game on the ground so LA shouldn’t have a hard time getting their ground game going. And if Gurley can open some lanes for Goff, the Rams should have no problems finding the end zone. But will it be enough to outscore Brady?

Players to Watch: Jared Goff (483 passing yards, 1 TD, 1 INT), CJ Anderson (167 rushing yards, 2 TD, 0 F), and Brandin Cooks (172 receiving yards, 0 TD, 11 REC).
