NFL 2017 Divisional Playoffs Steelers vs Chiefs Odds

Before the online NFL betting season began, the Pittsburgh Steelers were the favorites to win the division. The Steelers not only won the AFC North but went on to win the first round of the playoffs against the Miami Dolphins. In that game, Pittsburgh proved that they belong in the playoffs by creating explosive plays, establishing the run, and overcoming costly turnovers. If the Steelers can keep it up, there’s no doubt they will be one of the teams online Super Bowl betting lines will have to cover. But first, Pittsburgh must overcome a tough matchup against one of this year’s most dominant AFC teams, the Kansas City Chiefs. Let’s see what kind of odds are available for fans looking to bet on NFL playoffs.

NFL ODDS – AFC DIVISIONAL ROUND – Sunday, January 15th

Pittsburgh Steelers +1½ (-110) 44 (-110) +105
Kansas City Chiefs -1½ (-110) 44 (-110) -125

The online NFL betting odds have spoken and they have decided not to break from tradition and have pegged the higher seed as the favorite. Kansas City finished the season with a 12-4 record as well as a 2 game winning streak. Andy Reid leads the Chiefs to a second consecutive playoff appearance (3rd overall appearance for Reid as Kansas City’s head coach) and will be looking to advance further than they did last season.

During the 2016 playoffs the Chiefs were able to beat the Texans in the Wild Card round to advance to a divisional contest against the New England Patriots. The Pats ended up winning that contest before becoming the online Super Bowl betting champion.

The Chiefs own the 2nd best seen in the AFC, but on paper the Chiefs don’t look as stellar. Kansas City finished the season with the NFL’s 15th best rushing offense, 19th best passing offense, and 20th worst total offense. On defense things weren’t much better. The Chiefs finished 2016 with the 26th worst defense against the rush, 18th worst against the pass, and 24th worst overall. The only areas in which the Chiefs did excel were points allotted per game and turnover ratio. Kansas City only gave up 19.4 points per contest, which was the 7th best average in the NFL. Additionally, the Chiefs put up an astounding turnover ratio of +16. Keeping possession of the ball and taking points of the board with turnovers are what helped the Chiefs lock up the 2nd see in the AFC. They might not be online Super Bowl betting favorites, but they’re certainly capable of winning this Sunday.

The Steelers will be looking to win the turnover battle once again this Sunday against the team with the best turnover ratio. These two teams met earlier in the season and Pittsburgh was able to deliver a humiliating 43-14 blow. In that contest Roethlisberger was able to throw for over 280 yards, 5 touchdowns and a nearly perfect passer rating of 152.5. Additionally, Le’Veon Bell gained 144 yards on the ground. The online NFL betting odds are favoring the Chiefs, but something tells me the Steelers have something in store for Kansas City.
