Week 4 had its share of surprises, and more upsets than one would care to count. But thrown in with all that unpredictability were a few foreseeable events, including the Pittsburgh Steelers demolishing the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday Night Football. Usually fans look forward to seeing competition that rivals that of the playoffs on Sunday Night, but last night fans were robbed of that opportunity. While many were expecting to see Pittsburgh come out on top, few online football betting experts could have predicted how the events unfolded. Early turnovers gave the Steelers a sizeable lead in the 1st quarter, and the Chiefs could never recover from the premature psychological setback. Thanks in part to Oakland, the Steelers are now tied atop the AFC North with the Ravens. With a win against their Week 5 opponent, the New York Jets, the Steelers can begin to solidify their playoff chances. If New York plays the same way they have been for the last couple of weeks, then easy will barely describe Pittsburgh’s day. Heading into Week 5 the Jets are facing an astonishing -10 turnover ratio. Ironically, Fitzpatrick had more interceptions than Roethlisberger had failed completions (Big Ben went 22/27). With that in mind it’s safe to say that these two quarterbacks are in two completely different categories, but it’s a different story for their defenses.
Right now both teams are great against the run with the Steelers having the 5th best rush defense in the league, and the Jets having the 2nd best in the NFL. However, both are inefficient against the pass with Pittsburgh ranking 30th in the NFL, and New York coming in at 26th. So far in 4 games the Jets are giving up more points with their opponents averaging 26.2 points per game, while the Steelers are only giving up 20.0. Defensively these two teams are pretty evenly matched, but it’s a different story on the other side of the ball, not only with the quarterbacks, but with the running backs as well. The Jets have an aging Matt Forte who hasn’t been too reliable so far, while the Steelers will have Le’Veon Bell. Bell finished serving his suspension and in his first game back against the Chiefs averaged 8 yards per carry. The differences between these two teams’ offenses will prove too much for New York, and the Steelers over the Jets are this week’s easiest online football betting prediction.
