NFL Week 15 Betting Falcons vs 49ers

Ryan Poised to Deliver MVP Numbers Against San Fran

Posted by: Anthony Yaylor

At the start of the season, you would have had to have been crazy to believe that the Carolina Panthers would not be in contention for the South. But now that we’re three weeks away from the end of the 2016 online football betting season, it’s abundantly clear that the Panthers don’t have any chance of making the postseason this year. Sure, statistically speaking, there is a very slim chance that the Panthers could make the playoffs. But at 5-8 they would need both the Falcons and the Bucs to go winless for the remainder of the season and, as sportsbook fans already know, that isn’t very probable. Especially when considering who the Atlanta Falcons are facing this upcoming weekend.

In Week 15 the Falcons will be welcoming the San Francisco 49ers to Georgia in order to face off at the Georgia Dome. Interestingly enough, this will be one of the last contests Atlanta holds in the Georgia Dome since they will soon be relocating to the Mercedes-Benz Stadium. The Falcons are 3-3 at home overall this season but since the 49ers will be coming into this contest with only one win for the season, online football betting fans can expect the odds to favor with the Falcons on Sunday.

NFL Odds – Week 15 – Sunday, December 18th

Atlanta Falcons -14 (-105) 51½ (-105) -900
San Francisco 49ers +14 (-115) 51½ (-115) +600

To say that the NFL betting lines are heavily favoring the Falcons would be a vast understatement. With a 14-point favorite on the spread line, the bookies are more than convinced that the Falcons will be winning this Sunday. Accounting for how different these two teams appear on paper, it’s clear that the Falcons have the upper hand this Sunday.

Heading into this contest the Falcons will sport the 3rd best passing offense, as well as the 3rd best total offense. Atlanta’s running game ranks as the 16th worst in the NFL, but that hasn’t stopped Matt Ryan from placing himself into the MVP discussion. Most MVP polls rank Ryan as the 5th most likely candidate to take the award home at the end of the 2016 online football betting season. But since there are three games still left in this season, there are more than ample opportunities for Ryan to put on a display that propels him to the forefront of the MVP discussion. This Sunday, since the 49ers have such a disappointing defense, Ryan should have no problems delivering an MVP-esque performance.

San Francisco will come into this game with the 32nd worst rushing defense, 14th worst passing defense, and the worst total defense in the NFL. If the Falcons can get their running game going early in the game, Ryan should deliver another standout performance.
